Nycfc V Toronto Postgame

Damn wish I picked Saunders on draft kings. Put up 24 points with that clean sheet. Up $40 going into last game. Hopefully not a goal fest.

We manhandled giovinco - I bet he's mad as hell right now. Mullins' energy was fantastic. Pirlo sent the ball forward dangerously practically every time he touched it. We were both lucky and good defensively but on the other hand if we were stronger on the counter we could have had one or two more. Great game.

Really liked what I saw tonight. Pirlo was even defending! Not to mention he was back in the form we like him in; placing balls perfectly.

I'm glad I was justified in wearing my Lampard jersey to work today, even if I did choose it because, as a replica, it's more my "beater" jersey than my authentic Pirlo. But still! I put it on in hope, and the hope was fulfilled. Here's to more goals, Lamps.

Posting from my phone at the stadium while its fresh. Got to see the press conference. There were about a dozen reporters in the room. Kreis answered their questions for about 10 minutes. No photos or ability to record. You can't ask a question. The insight:

- Kreis really liked Jacobson's performance tonight and has for a while. He says a big part of the midfield along with Pirlo.
- Villa tried to get into the game tonight. But practice yesterday he couldn't really go for it.
- TMac isn't injured just not in the 18. Kreis said he's going to be apart of the team for a while. (actually got to tell Tommy this in the elevator ride up).
- Kreis said he knows how many points we need to get to make the playoffs but didn't want to say because of superstition.
- Said that effort in the last remaining games will go a long way towards the agenda offseason.
- The clean sheet was the biggest thing tonight besides the three points.
- He left after the Dallas game we had things more figured out but says it will take five games to have an idea of what this team is about.

More to tomorrow after my drive back to school.

Also, you get to the press room through the post match meet and greet area so you can get two for one: press conference and post match.

Great game tonight. Everything was clicking and smooth. Defense was good. I think this might have been the first clean sheet since the first home game against New England. Great to see Shelton back on the pitch.

Regarding Pirlo, clearly the team has settled into giving him a playmaking role... According to Whoscored? stats, Pirlo had 92 touches tonight. The next-most touches was a distant 56 from Whoscored?'s MOTM, RJ Allen.

Grabavoy had the best passing percentage of the players who went the full 90, with 91.3%. He also racked up 5 key passes. Is Grabavoy undergoing a renaissance?

A win, finally. I don't think we win this game without Pirlo. He was creating so many chances with those ridiculous passes. Too bad Grabavoy is too shit of a player to do anything with them. Mullins even had a hard time with his first touches on those Pirlo passes. Villa might have made magic with them. Good to see Frank get his first goal. Best of all, we didn't concede.

Still don't understand why Poku gets benched. It amazes me.

Grabavoy didn't play the full 90. He was subbed out so Shelton could come on. To be fair Grabavoy had a decent if not great game. Made a few blunders but generally played OK.
