Official 2016 Nycfc Roster Discussion Thread

Well since your a virgin, I'll be gentle.

The MLS doesn't release contract info when it comes to term. But it's widely believed that Lampard's contract ends at the end of this season. It is rumored Pirlo has another year left as an option (but unclear if it's a player or team option). I don't think villa's term was ever released but I'm guessing it ends this year like Lampard's with him hopefully extending another year or two with us.

If you want we can go out for breakfast in the morning. But if you get too clingy this won't last long.
Just give me a couple of bucks for coffee and tell me where the nearest subway is ....,

Villa's contract was reported by multiple media outlets at 3 years.

I'd like that, villa looks fit enough to go for another couple of seasons to me.

Not so sure on Frank or Pirlo though. Frank's scoring for fun but I think we lack some mobility in midfield when they both play.

I would guess that Villa will retire when he's 36 or 37. He doesn't turn 35 until December of this year so I think we'll have him for at least another season. If we win the MLS Cup this year I could see him retiring December but then again maybe he'd want to be here for the Champions League.

Here for Champion's League would mean 1.5 more years if you assume (dream of) late knockout games.

Good info, and to add, even though Pirlo's contract supposedly ends next year, with the amount of physical effort he has to expend to do what he does on the field, he could conceivably sign two more 3-4 year contracts with option years and continue to play until he's 45 or so. He's like a fine wine, and just gets better with age.

Exactly. His play style affords longetivity. Can't imagine his former teammate Vidal or Schweinsteiger play into late 30s.

Agree and assuming Lampard is the first DP to leave we will have the ability to provide Pirlo with another CM to help offset his defensive responsibilities even further.

You mock his defensive abilities, but he's damn effective at the high press and probably even enjoys doing it - keeps him in the right area without running once the ball is turned over.

Honestly it's entirely about how well we do in the offseason.

If we win the MLS cup with the current signings, expect them to come back for another year. Legends drive Jersey sales and there are only so many Legends stepping down from top flight European soccer per year; capital L Legends.

If we don't win the MLS cup I can see Frank being the one to go for someone a bit younger, maybe like another Villa at 32 or 33. Someone who's still got the legs to help cover for Pirlo.

It wasn't at meant to be a knock on Lampard. He's been great since he returned from injury and I agree his positioning is impeccable. All that being said I still think as Pirlo ages it would be helpful to have a higher work rate CM next to him to help out. Complements to PV for finding a way to make it work with Lamps playing a pressing CAM role and Iraola playing a deep CDM. If Lampard is done at the end of the season I'd rather replace him with more of a box to box type player.

I was kidding but also referring to Pirlo, not Lampard, as not needing help since he's so effective when he presses.

Some new faces in training today. Of course don't expect the team to announce anything. Will try to get more info soon. Don't expect much to come of it though, plenty of people have trialed in the past with NYCFC only to never be seen again.
