NYCFC Academy - General Discussion

Well, aside from Gio Reyna...

We don't have many known forwards. We have a lot of good midfielders like Nico Benalcazar, Veljko Petkovic, and Jonathan Jimenez.

Are we sure about them all being midfielders?

has Jiminez going in for Castellanos up top, or at least on a forward winger spot.

and this has Benalcazar playing LB it seems, I am not entirely sure

looks to be a 2001, unsure why he hasn't played much, and what position.

Really strange that he hasn’t played much and yet allowed to join NYCFC. We typically don’t take players that haven’t come up through the system, and considering his lack of games per TFC’s website, he doesn’t appear to be a total baller deserving of special treatment at a U19. He wouldn’t even qualify for HG status unless he sticks for another few years and at that point he’s past the HG window.

The DA has rules about minimum number of starts — I believe it’s 20% , so if he only played in 2 games each year it’s for a reason other than his quality.

It’s also possible he was on the B team and those listed appearances were guest call-ups.

Yeah, that’s super convenient for the average NYC parent. The club better have shuttle service to/from each day.

This is the beginning of the walk back they’re going to do on the girls teams. Essentially they are getting out of it now and letting a trusted partner use their name.
