Official Vent Thread

Someone called me at work 45 minutes ago and the ID seemed spammy so I sent it to voicemail, and they didn't leave a message. They have since called 10 times total, or once every 4-5 minutes. Once I accidentally hit "Answer," but immediately hung up.
It might be the only way to make this stop is to take the call, but I really don't want them to win.
Never give in, Never respond

This is more a sigh than a vent, but even MLS staff don't know how to properly explain our relationship with that team in Manchester:
"It’s a lofty analogy from Porter, as Pep Guardiola’s team can win its second straight EPL title on Sunday if they outlast Liverpool on the final match day of 2018-19. The Sky Blues, parent club of MLS side New York City FC, also have enough international superstars to fill two XIs."
Caleb Porter: LAFC are the Manchester City of MLS

I guess nobody bothers with style guides.

Parent? Screw that writers. Teams are sisters, just like planes and boats.

#3. Dumb-ass person commentating saying Johnson forgot he can use his hands here. Most of America just doesn't know/care about soccer.

..but hey, at least we made a highlight reel :p

I made a mistake on my 2015 NYS taxes and forgot to include income from a particular mutual fund. NYS caught it for 2015 and sent a bill for taxes owed and interest. The notice said I should check to see if I did the same thing in later years and if so, fix it myself to avoid fines. Turns out I did the same thing in 2016.
So I filled out an amended NYS return for 2016, computed what I owe with interest and sent it in about 2 months ago. On Friday I received a check from NYS saying they owed me money for 2016. It was exactly what I paid 2 months ago, and no further explanation. Yesterday I received a bill from NYS for 2016 for about 93% of what they just refunded. Apparently I over-calculated the interest amount and this is how they handle it.
Why refund the entire payment and then bill me again instead of just refunding the overpayment? NY State government at work.

So 9 weeks ago I totally ate it mountain biking on a trail I ride regularly.

Snapped my right clavicle. 9 screws and a metal plate during surgery a week later. 5 fractured ribs.

The icing on the cake was extensive blood clots in my right arm about 4 weeks after surgery. Required more surgery and I ended up in ICU for 2 nights.

I have to take blood thinners for 5 more months.

Having AFLAC really took some of the sting out.

Yeah, I spend about $110 a month for Accident/Cancer/Short Term Disability but I missed 9 weeks of work. And I’ve already gotten about $3,500 from AFLAC. It helps with all of the co-pays.

My AFLAC rep told me I will very likely get about $9,500 more because I have the Short Term Disability policy as well.

Anyway, don’t take being healthy for granted. I was lucky I had a caring wife. I couldn’t bathe or get out of bed by myself for 2 weeks.

Oh man, that’s horrible. I really hope thing get easier and you get better soon!

Aren’t you in Miami - where do you mountain bike around there?

Sorry to hear it. Hope the basement flooding wasn't too bad. We lost our finished basement after Irene. Horrible.
This happens every year or two, was only about two to three inches, so not terrible, but still had to get rid of a substantial amount of things. Sorry to hear about your basement :(

Install a sump pump & pit.

That much is still a pain. We had a couple of inches back in the spring, but are set up to deal with that much pretty well. We had 3.5 feet in Irene, and our basement is basically our family room. Lost the couch, TV, washer/dryer, water heater, furnace, small refrigerator, floor, walls, etc.

Since then, the village has installed a flood mitigation system, so we should be good going forward.
