Official Vent Thread

Do people who work at car dealerships understand why they are universally reviled? The department does not matter: sales, service, finance, whatever. I am treated with base line competence and courtesy maybe 20% of the time, probably less.
I commend to your attention the following episode of This American Life, which followed a car dealership through a single month as they try to meet their sales quota - 129 cars. It's entertaining and highly informative, and while it may not make you like dealerships any better, it should answer your question.

This isn't really a vent. It's more a wry observation, that on the forum tonight we have people who think we can win Supporters Shield and people who think we can't possibly win our next home game against a sixth place team.
I get the reasons for both, but
For the record, I don't actually believe we can win the supporters shield.
...At the same time, I'm quite confident we win on wednesday.

If you’re in say, row 9 in an airplane, you’re not supposed to exit the airplane before the passengers that were seated in row 8 the entire flight.

You friggin boombatz.

Unless in the event of tight connections or medical emergency, both of which you would have notified the flight attendant beforehand. Or, if you don’t have a lot of items with you and know what you’re doing and can exit the plane quickly.

No. Just no.

95% of the passengers on the plane don’t have a lot of items. Cause of, you know, the limit on bringing a lot of items on the plane.
Yep, anybody jumping rows on exit is dead to me. Etiquette.

PRO used to post the MLS referee assignments around 12 - 1 PM earlier in the season. Now they're pushing it to later in the afternoon. It's past 4 PM and it hasn't been posted yet.

Hate crickets. Last year I only had one enter my room, this year so far in the past WEEK 5 have entered my room. I'm scared (or idk, some weird phobia of bugs which also applies to crickets) of them, and so I don't even want to open google and search for 'ways to figure out what's causing so many crickets to enter my room' because I know that all the articles will have photos of crickets. Anyone have any recommendations? Currently using one glue trap towards the side of my room, but I don't even know why or how they're entering my room. For context, my room used to be the garage - but I don't know where they are coming from. Ventilation? Under my door? cracks in the wall? I don't know.

Have no idea what a cricket looks like. If I knew there was a bug in my room I wouldn’t be able to sleep

You've... never seen a cricket before? Lucky man. Though you might have roaches?

It's quite hard to go to sleep at night, let me tell you. I've been putting my phone on higher ground so I don't have to reach onto the floor, then I turn on my flashlight to check if there's anything around, and then I can go about my business. It really sucks, and that's why I hate spring/fall, that's when they always appear.

got a cricket problem? rent a lizard.

crickets are attracted to moisture, food, and light. so maybe you have a humidity problem in your room if you keep getting them. also, if you have a window or gap to the outside for them to get in through, then seal those suckers up. i sealed up my apartment when i moved in with caulk, weather strips and foil tape. i went crazy. but haven't seen a single roach or bug since i finished sealing. if your room is bright at night, they may be attracted to it. if your room is full of snacks and crumbs, they'll go after that too. they also like dead plant matter. clean up and keep things dry and use a vacuum to suck up the ones you see, eggs and all, and you should be rid of them in no time.

If I could get myself near a cricket, I'd suck it up in a vacuum. But I'll look into all that. Very helpful, thank you very much.
...My main issue is now that they're here, I am too paranoid and scared to do any of the clean-up involved in that because, well, they're gonna probably be chilling somewhere...

local exterminator may be a solution for you then. probably could find a special through the various home repair sites.

Sucks to spend the money, but your sanity is worth it.
