a bunch of teams are using the term "Closed door" loosely it seems. I was checking out other teams schedules and they all say closed door but im sure some will be shown here and there.

EDIT: i think it means more no fans allowed

Finally something to look forward to. Zero expectations going into this. Excited to finally see some MLS quality football :tearsofjoy:
I’ll plan my break at work accordingly.

Since it's on nycfc.com, i wonder if we should link the full recording somewhere spoiler-free (mainly for my selfish can't-watch-it-until-later self) haha

Looks like I’m the biggest geek on the forum.
Here is my report!

Even though it was preseason, NYCFC looked to be close if not already in regular season form:
  1. Chanot almost scored... for Chicago. We love Chanot but he does have a penchant for a few oopsies in a season. His “clearance” hit the cross bar for what may have been the best chance for an NYCFC player to put the ball into the net on the afternoon.
  2. Not sure how many real chances NYCFC had today. Taty took a few low percentage shots. How many times have we complained about lack of creativity and poor final third. We are there!
  3. Medina. Do I need to say more?
Play the kids! ?No choice but to play the kids. Glad they got minutes today. Not sure I’ll feel the same during the regular season.
  1. Can Justin Haak it? No sold on his center back play from today’s performance. Does he have a better position?
  2. Diego Rossi is no Diego Rossi. At least not for awhile. Lots of wild running around.
  3. Tayvon looked good at times. Hey I said something positive about NYCFC. Thanks Tayvon!

Haak is not a CB i dont know why he is there. Jasson drew fouls but i dont know if winger is his best position. Gudi is not good as a starter i know its preseason but man even last year it felt clear.

the draft kid got beat but its his first game vs pros though not sure if they gonna sign him.

we really have no creativity with no 10. I thought jasson would take that role but he kept being played on the wing.
We really need striker help

my highlight takeaways..

1. Jasson has a lot of potential to be a great asset for us. Lots of movement, fearless in challenges, and willing to take on any defender 1v1. if he can improve his movement and develop some kind of finishing touch, he may be that park in the attack we need.

2. gudi still sucks

3. di rosa (our superdraft pick) is probably not going to be on di roster for the season...

Just for some perspective, Diego Rossi is in 10th grade.

Ronny said in his press conf that he was trying Haak out at CB. My guess is he's trying to create a CB backup with his excess number of D-mids.

we didn't have a true #10 today. I THINK medina was supposed to be our playmaker, but he's just not good enough.

For those who could not watch the stream due to the time, they posted a replay. Not sure if the region lock is still applicable for this replay. Good luck!

Also, Ronny's reaction:

Still locked. Thanks for the highlights everyone.

I was able to watch the replay :)

...Also let's not forget this is the first game anyone's played really in like 3 and a half months sooooo, it makes sense if their passing etc are not there right now. Hopefully by the time the season starts we will be back in groove. Judging by the amount of preseason games, it looks like this will be the case!

I don't think anybody is being harsh about simple mistakes. But we do want to see certain things like experimenting, trying to improve their individual style of play some how. For example, Sands noted he wanted to work on being able to play forward more and do so more accurately. He seemed to try that more in this game and that was nice to see. Even if he messed up a lot and gave the ball away, just knowing he was trying to improve is great.

It is preseason, so they should be trying things. I'm also ok with Ronny trying players are different positions. Better now than a Wing Ring situation in the middle of the season. Crooks said Isi was the #10, but it seemed like Medina was to me. Wasn't paying full attention though.

These first few preseason games are moreso to get the legs warmed up and for younger guys to show their stuff a bit. I expect to see more organization in the last 1 or 2 preseason games with an actual starting XI.

It's just nice to see our boys playing again!
