QFC Stadium

if we ever make it back to CCL, this better be approved.

Concacaf can be an ahole. They really love RBA as they also host the Gold Cup there alot too. I dont see it tbh. US open yes for sure.

EDIT: Concacaf always says the preference is the "premier stadium in area" so they choose RBA.

i was kidding. no way concacaf approves it. they wouldn't even approve YS.

wasnt the excuse that YS nor Citi field were "ready" that they had winterization of the grass or something. so they were not available? i know they tried St Johns though.

i don't think we were ever told an exact reason.

MLS/Concacaf will only allow Yankee Stadium, Citi Field, Red Bull Arena, MetLife Stadium

If you closed off the corners and added a 2nd tier, i feel like you could get 15k with a modular on that footprint. 15k as a temporary SSS should be MLS approvable. Idk, i feel like NYCFC didn’t want to go that route, which is dumb with a decade plus wait for a SSS of 25-30k.

Based on the round building in the rendering, I think this is where the specific site is.

The round building circled in red is where NY State is giving vaccines. I've been there 3 times (for family and myself) in the last 4-5 weeks and know it well. The blue rectangle is where it appears the stadium is going. It's not really big.

Look North across the train track and Archer Avenue and you can see the nearest subway, and the more commercial section of Jamaica. Stay on that side and go 4-5 blocks west (left) and you have Jamaica Station.

Miami has that, but not "2nd tier" - I have a feeling adding a 2nd tier is not soemthing doable with modular stadiums.

Looks like they will also be using the space on the top left as a concession area/club zone. I'm stoked I can get there in 20-25 mins by LIRR. Turning me into a hopeless pro-rel supporter.

that can only work if they extend the existing sections higher, Which based on rendering they kinda wont be able to since it will be cutting into the sidewalk/ street.

I just don't think that area could support crowds like that. Even looking at that picture you have to wonder how they will manage egress/ingress. You can't just magically go from all of those people not being in the stadium to all of them being in it.

Well done, QBFC. I'm incredibly excited about this. Biggest professional soccer infrastructure development in the city, perhaps ever?

Someone buy the Cosmos and have them do exactly this in Brooklyn, and NYCFC will eventually get theirs done, and soccer has officially arrived in NYC.

No. There's land, and we put stadium in land, and we make lots of seats in land and everything is good!
