Saw a Twitter convo today between a couple of seemingly rational Man City fans. They seemed to think that if Arteta gets the Arsenal job, then van Bronckhorst will slide into Arteta's current role as Pep's assistant, but if Arteta stays at MC then GVB comes to NYC. That of course raises the questions of what does NYC do if Arteta gets the Arsenal job. But if these guys were right -- and yes they're kind of randos but also seemed, as I said, to be reasonably informed -- then we could be in a holding pattern until Arsenal figures out what it wants to do.
Interesting. Since going from head coach at Feyenoord to assistant coach at Man City feels like a demotion, and being head coach at NYCFC wouldn't give him enough exposure to Pep in order for him to substantively learn that much from him... Can we infer that he really wants to be part of CFG? Presumably because of their resources and potential to build a legacy?

Each day it becomes more and more apparent to me that we're in a holding pattern until CFG sells the club.

Steve Cohen should buy the club and build a beautiful SSS next to Citi Field.

Not a chance cfg would sell the club. They are in the process of expanding their assets. They aren't gonna sell off a team in a growing league in a large market unless they got some insane offer. And even then, i doubt they would sell.

Maybe Steve Cohen and QBFC is better fit? If they get to the point where they are NYC 3 in MLS?

I bet we get some interim coach from low on the MCFC totem pole for the first half of the year at this rate.

Worst case we don't get a coach in time for CCL, they can just rewatch this tweet before matches.

We have the benefit of being almost entirely the same squad. Aside from Parks, we still have our starting XI. We should be ok. The only concern if mentality of the players based on not having a coach. Hopefully, ring and the other leaders can step up and get everyone's head on straight to take us into CCL on a mission to go all the way.

Did he put this out as a highlight reel for potential employers?

Remember when he was supposed to go to another MLS team and that meant we were doomed because obviously his departure proved NYCFC was cheap and/or the worst run team in the league? I guess Chicago or Miami might still hire him, but they're not exactly rushing into it.

So we can’t get a coach until Pep decides or until Arsenal decides. Anyone else want to hold up the NYCFC search?

Actually it's a cool city Curritiba. I was down there for WC, and it was nice weather and way different atmosphere than rest of Brazil....seem to have things in order....plus their stadium was beautiful.....with no parking lots If I remember, a stadium for a city

Good jazz clubs?

The longer this goes on, the more I am conviced it should be Mehdi. He’s the only NYCFC guy with coaching ability. It sure as hell isnt going to be Villa.

Why would it be Medhi over Pilkington? Pilkington has at least coached players, closer in age to real pros, to tournament championships, and he has been coaching for a lot longer.
