Running Streaming Movies/TV Thread

Been watching chilling adventures of Sabrina might not be for too many people on here but it’s dark, sometimes darkly comic and definitely not strictly for teenie boppers
I'll back this up. Very enjoyable show and nothing like the show from the nineties, aside from character names.
Only qualm is I wish Salem was more involved in the latter few episodes. I didn't mind his inability to talk, but he started out as a bad ass and then it seemed like they forgot about him.
I need to watch the Christmas special too, but it sucks that the season has passed.

Just got done with You on Netflix. I liked it.

Sharp Objects on HBO was good too.

anyone watching Season 3 of True Detective on HBO? only on episode 3, but it's very captivating
I'm also on E3 (if by "on" you mean finished with as opposed to "up next), but for me it was the episode where the story started dragging and maybe going off course. It could right itself for sure, but for me the 3-parallel time period story format is not working very well. Will probably watch E4 tonight.

yeah, just finished episode 3 - I think the 3 time period format has been clever so far - can you imagine how hard it must have been to map out the story boards for this? only being able to divulge so much at a certain time, etc. - we'll see how it plays out

Anyone checked out Hanna on Amazon Prime? I saw an ad during the super bowl that said the first ep was available for 24 hours. The rest are coming later in the year. There was a movie a couple years ago and I guess they're doing a series.
Also been watching Counterpart staring J.K. Simmons. It's about parallel dimensions during and after the cold war.

Narcos Mexico might be better than the prior seasons.

I’m looking forward to seeing Scoot in the next season. I really enjoyed him in Halt and Catch Fire (which no one watched, unfortunately).

I've really enjoyed People Just Do Nothing on Netflix.

5 short seasons of 6 episodes each. In some ways a typical example of the British mockumentary format. May not be that watchable if you weren't into garage music.

Seasons 1 and 4 were outstanding. Two was good but uneven. Three was a bit of a mess. I loved the cast.
Scoot is also in the current True Detective.

Yep. I’m glad to see he’s getting quality jobs. I think he’s a pretty good actor.

It's the rave of the month so you've probably heard of it, but I can confirm it's really good. It's a Groundhog Day story except less linear. I don't even want to say anything more. Short too. 8 episodes only 30 minutes each.

Shtisel, but it's only 2 seasons and ended in 2016. Left me wanting more and I don't think it's happening. Good news is they are making an English language version based in Borough Park coming soon.

If you're into comic book stuff, Netflix has 10 episodes of The Umbrella academy starring Ellen Page. On the DC subscription service an adaptation of Doom Patrol starring Brendan Fraser, Matt Bomer, Alan Tudyk of Firefly fame and 2 time James Bond, Timothy Dalton.

I'm currently catching up on The Gifted season 2 on demand (I moved this winter so got behind on things) Umbrella Academy is probably my next project after I'm caught up.

Doom Patrol sounds really good and even Titans looked decent but I'm not shelling out on DC streaming at this point. If it comes to DVD eventually there's always the library lol.

I caught a few episodes with my wife. I like the story but find the lead character annoying because it's the same character from OITNB.

I never saw that so I don't have that problem. I found the characters to be borderline cartoon stereotype New York stock characters, except if you've lived here long enough and especially if you ever spent a few years with a real or even poseur artsy/bohemian crowd, you've met all of them.

The Rolling Stones documentary on Netflix is really good and I’m not like a diehard Stones fan or anything.

It’s called Crossfire Hurricane.
