Sean Johnson [Goalkeeper]

Except for DPs and limited voluntary TAM, it's a hard capped league, albeit with complications.
Every extra dollar spent on Sean takes away from elsewhere on the roster.
Dollars not spent do not save the club money, so any time a club chooses not to spend on Player A it is an indication they plan to spend on Player B.
The club intends to take the money it's not spending on Sean and spend it on other parts of the roster.
I keep seeing fans demand that the club tell us it has a plan.
This is the club telling you it has a plan.
Paying Johnson for sentimental reasons is the opposite of a plan.

I agree. It sucks to lose Sean, but like Callens we got him for his peak years. He's 33 now. Freeze has a lot of potential and I really think he'll end up being the starter this year. So you're going from a 33 year old to a 24 year old making like $500k less. That's a lot in this league.

It's definitely a matter of business realities. We're not an association football club with the flexibility to spend as we please. The extra parameters drive a lot of the decision making.

did you really expect otherwise though?
We've been talking about this for years... It's clearly a huge reason a lot of people wouldn't come here yet - that new stadium will be HUGE

i mean he still came here. and was successful here. i always felt this idea what players wont come maybe is applied to domestic players and possibly big names in terms of DP. The rest of the international players seemed to not care. i mean santi claimed in his recent interview that he loved playing at Yankee Stadium.

Sure, but you have to imagine that a player in general given the chance of playing at a half-full yankee stadium vs a packed and loud sss would prefer the sss. Maybe i'm wrong though, but it would definitely seem that way...

No Bieber or The Weeknd helping out Toronto? I'm surprised SJ stood for this partial Canadian invasion.
Thank goodness he didn't end up signing with Montreal.

SSS stadiums are only packed for home openeres derby and playoffs, the rest are not packed. and the loudest being possibly LAFC, Austin and Portland. i feel the players are probably more annoyed at playing in various stadiums as home games.

As going to write, "Will be interesting to see the reaction when he comes back for the MLS this season at Yankee Stadium/Citi Field since there will be more fans there who probably view him more favorably"...

But we're playing vs. Toronto again at RBA.
