I know you're close to the club but how are you so sure they wouldn't move a few games there for next season?

The only conversations I've heard about moving matches would be the final games of the season. MLS requires for a team be home during match 33 and away during match 34 and the reverse the next year (during a 34 game regular season). This is done to avoid competitive advantage heading in Decision Day. We are the only team playing away, away during the final two matches. This is because of MLS moving up the schedule and the MLB calendar. So where can we play this last home game? Citi Field? Connecticut? Another MLS stadium? Just play both games away? The club is considering all options.

The tweet didn’t allude to that. The tweet said “if not all”. That suggests the info he has is saying it’s quite possible it could be the whole season.

That’s where I stop giving that tweet any credence whatsoever.

And then he tweeted at Taylor Twellman to see what his thoughts were on the rumor that he tweeted.

Pretty sure Jonathan is a poster here as well, or at least he chimes in from time to time.
There’s some people here who have it in with the FO and I’m sure he has some connections as well. I still think if this we’re happening some of the posters here would have heard something about it as well.
If it is happening then the Mets already know about it and you’d think something would of leaked.

Well, if someone wants to overlay a Yankees and Mets 2020 calendar and see available dates given 72 hours for both stadiums that would be interesting. Maybe the Mets would allow games in February but the Yankees won't.

Yeah, this is why this surprised me. I thought this guy had some decent inside information in the past. But this one just looks really bad.

If it had just been limited to "Word on the #NYCFC rumor mill is that next season @nycfc will be playing some games at Citi Field." (removed if not all), and not included the other follow up tweets, I would have been able to believe this a bit more.

What if this is a contingency if NYCFC qualifies for CCL? Could the Yankees draw a line in the sand and say "No more than 17 home matches at YS"? NYCFC would be left scrambling for another place to play and Citi Field would be the next logical spot to play those matches.
I'm sure that's a possibility.

Still doesn't explain bringing "if not all" of the games next season into the message.

This sounds like the most plausible explanation. Especially if it wasn’t clear we’d play in CCL till last few weeks (and still not guaranteed, Philly dependent). If that’s the case though, I’d ask the yanks to divest if I were CFG, and that would explain the not at all at YS part.

Nah, we have to bring Club America to play at St. John’s. Their expression at seeing the stadium would be priceless

Here are the weekend dates for which Yankee Stadium is available for us in 2020, according to what Lion and Adam put together in the 2020 Schedule thread. These only cover the baseball season, so anything in February or March is extra.

1. Sat 3/28 or Sun 3/28
2. Sun 4/12
3. Sun 5/3
4. Sat 5/16 or Sun 5/17
5. Sun 5/31
6. Sun 6/14
7. Sat 7/4
8. Sat 8/29 or Sun 8/30
9. Sat 9/5 or Sun 9/6

Here are the additional weekends that Citi Field would open up.

1. Sat-Sun 4/4-5
2. Sun 4/25
3. Sat-Sun 5/9-10
4. Sun 5/24
5. Sat 6/27
6. Sat-Sun 7/11-12
7. Sun 7/25
8. Sat 8/8
9. Sat-Sun 8/22-23
10. Sat 9/12
11. Sat-Sun 9/26-27

There isn't a single available weekend at Citi Field that overlaps with an available weekend at Yankee Stadium.

5/3 is not available because the Yankees have a game on the 5th. Otherwise I have the exact same list.

So, Yankee Stadium has 8 available weekends and Citi Field has 11 available weekends - not including games in March and April.
