I'm curious as to why everyone seems to think that QBFC has so much more local community/political support than NYCFC does? What is that based on? Just the picture of Katz with Villa and Moya?

I don't recall exactly, and maybe I am recalling it all incorrectly, but I thought I remember reading somewhere that Katz's office released news that they were in talks about the stadium and Katz and Moya were excited about the project.

Community and political support for an as-yet-announced stadium in an as-yet-announced part of Queens in and as-yet-announced timeframe is “pretty much done”?

You're right, it's not "pretty much done" but having local political support is a big hurdle. and the modular stadium is to be at York college in jamaica. Sounds to me like it's pretty much announced? Or am I missing something?

I'm assuming the below is what you are referring to, dated October 2018. I'm not sure how that wording is any different from what we've seen in regards to other local community meetings and statements, especially more recently, in regards to NYCFC in the Bronx.

I don't intend to say that they aren't making progress or anything. I've just seen so many suggestions out on Twitter that QBFC is doing so much more than NYCFC in regards to this, and I just don't see what that is based on aside from selective memory.

A temporary stadium is easy, although I’m sure there will be objections. I thought you were referring to an actual stadium.

Getting approval from York to build a 7.5k stadium ≠ finding somewhere to build a 20-25k stadium.

Exactly. Building a small minor league stadium on private property is a hell of a lot different than what NYCFC is trying to do.

EDIT to the fact that York is in the CUNY family, but I don't know whether that seriously changes my point. This stadium probably doesn't need government approval.

Miami might be more than two years in its temporary stadium AND its whole stadium plan might be killed by politicians?

All of us right now:

Given what we know and what we believe still needs to be accomplished, is it even possible for them to make an “it’s done” announcement? Wouldn’t it be more of a “here’s where we are in the process” announcement? What are the missing pieces we don’t already know? Maybe details of a more definitive deal subject to approvals, more flavor on the plans and build team, further detail of the plans, a better timeline?

I think the culture of the Middle East - is to say nothing until something is done. So when - and it’s a big when any deal is done - it will likely have the I’s dotted and the ts‘s crossed before CFG say anything.

I can list 47 ways CFG and NYCFC have failed, disappointed, underwhelmed and even betrayed us. I don't know why people feel a need to make up ones that don't exist and make no sense when there are so many real ones to choose from.

ETA: There's more if this going on the the Reyna thread but whatever. Everything makes sense in the stadium thread.
