His political window ended when he gave himself a third term as mayor. If he really wants to have an impact next election, he should be spending money for whoever the dems pick, registering voters, and funding orgs like Stacey Abrams Fair Fight 2020.

If the stadium thread wants to back a politician, it should be Ruben Diaz Jr's mayoral bid. Very similar development philosophy to Bloomberg.

I think if there's any beef or potential friction, it's because either the privately-funded part isn't true or it's not well communicated.

Or it’s just that people want to bitch and moan while they wait for a ha sour to come along? Right?

Announcement coming very soon

Oh, really?

It's because people who can hold up development of the stadium (and there are lots of them) will do just that in order to get something for themselves that is completely unrelated to the stadium.

Bingo. It’s pure leverage to get other items in exchange for their support. So much pork it’s like a bacon festival.

The funny thing about leverage is that sometimes you end up with nothing.

Have they really started with nothing? When someone offers you an apple and you hold out for three, how many apples do you have when they walk away?
I think he meant that before the Apple was offered, the party that would ask for more had nothing, so if everything falls through they’re at a net gain/loss of zero.

The people demanding tithing are swinging for the fences - all or nothing.

But this is a repeated game, not a stage game, to use game theory terms. They have zero apples instead of 1 or 3, but tomorrow another developer is going to come along, and they will know to offer more than 1. These parties that are required to grant their approval can only sell that approval once.

I’m not smart enough for this game so I’m going to step away now.

Can a neutral party explain to me why a privately funded stadium on an unused parcel of land in a forgotten part of New York City is a bad thing?
You have to define privately funded before that question can be answered.
