Spend 3 minutes on his Twitter profile. Here is one where he is going through the homeless spiel on the subway and for some reason tags Joe Biden and Andrew Cuomo?
At the ULI TAP meeting he said that he likes going to games because "it's a great place to go and get drunk with my friends".

I mentioned above I intentionally left out the date of the discussion regarding the parking lot lease. This is largely the biggest reason why.

I like how he is both unfunny and mocking homeless people at the same time!

Yeah this tactic is really lame.
Organize a supporters group, mobilize fans to do positive things for the south Bronx or hell, at a bare minimum just go out and play a game of pick-up soccer with friends in a park and tell people about how great it is to watch this team play.

Anything other than making a spectacle for likes and annoying the very people who will need to be convinced that the behavior of the fans will not annoy them and their community but be a positive addition to the neighborhoods where they live.

Guess who I will be voting for?

Fixed it for you!

Nah, he's an empty suit. All talk and no action.

Plus, the Sheikh doesn't need public subsidies.

Its starting to get dated and obviously people can object to John Oliver for many reasons but I do think he makes some fair points about how odd it is to have tax payers subsidize sport stadiums. Especially one as rich as the Sheikh.

The deal on the table does not involve subsidies. It just requires an honest mayor and a functional city government. We will see if those requirements are "unreasonable" in NYC.
I think for the CFG ownership, the discussion isn't about whether or not there will be subsidies -- there definitely will, but they'll be going in the opposite direction we usually think of, i.e. $$$ flowing to community group programs. And I think, given their PR machine, CFG will be OK with that if it gets them the green light.

I will still never understand why that loser DeBlasio didn't try to work toward a deal for a stadium for the club. The MFer could have put up a plaque with his name on it on the side of the stadium that would have been up in perpetuity. Mayors usually like to have their names on something that people visit. It would have brought in some jobs during the construction, and revenue from games. The city would no longer be losing so much money from those parking garages. You have to think that our attendance will grow once we are out of Yankee Stadium. More butts in seats means more money for the city and for the South Bronx.

Anyone got the TLDR on DeBlasio's viewpoint?

DeB's take is that the Yankees and garage owners got a sweetheart deal from Bloomberg, and DeB demanded that the city be made whole on the garage bond losses and that the Yankees give back even more as a prerequisite to discussing a soccer stadium. So nothing happened. He could have gotten something, but he demanded everything and received 0.

What a moron. He was never going to get that. Take the losses and move on.

Vote coming from the board next month. Need to give it all a re-listen and will fill in any additional details as needed. A few other details:
  • Maddd is paying approx $50m to bondholders in order to split the lease.
  • Bronx Borough vote comes after CB4 vote, and then mayoral authorization of the vote.
  • No potential land use items are being discussed as part of the vote to split the lease. Maddd and EDC were clear they would meet with CB4 afterwards to discuss potential developments.
