Team saves $17M by not playing at Yankee stadium. Even if they have to make their training grounds more TV friendly, that’s a lot of coin to bank and more than they’d lose from no STH income.

If MLS goes with the "MLS Studio" concept that Garber mentioned...hopefully they build one near league headquarters! 32 more home games would be a nice advantage!

Unfortunately NYC will probably be the last place we would play if we try to start back up while avoiding the virus.

If they tricked-out the practice facility, other teams would just fly their charters into Teterboro and be at the field in no time.

It’s actually too bad the practice facility is so barebones - if there was a live-in residence part of the academy (if the academy even trained there) then the dorm could house the opposing team when it visited. [Sigh].....

and cup matches. Zero foresight.

Since there won't be fans at any American sporting event until 2021 most likely, there's no reason to use Yankee Stadium. The only thing about using the practice field is they're going to want good visuals for TV. Even if it's empty seats. They're going to basically make this a made-for-TV event, so you want good visuals. Whatever that means, I do think they play in MLS stadiums.

It wouldn't surprise me if they had teams in geographic bubbles all playing at the same stadium. You could do three games a day in each stadium (let's say Red Bull Arena, Minnesota United's field, and LAFC), so a max of 6 games at each stadium in a weekend. It wouldn't be too hard to find 2 or 3 stadiums where they could just beam a feed out from. I think that's far more likely than having teams traveling all over the country every weekend to play in front of nobody.

It's pretty clear to me there won't be fans at MLS games until 2021, so that would seem to be the easiest way to do this thing. You could limit media by having pool reporters and only a world feed TV broadcasts, so you make it as bare-bones as possible. Announcers can call the games from the home team's studio the way most MLS teams do road games. This league is uniquely positioned to do something like that because that's somewhat how TV broadcasts are done normally in this league.

They found a guy with literally no football stadia on his resume.
This guy was one member of the ULI panel, and the point of the panel wasn’t even to discuss the stadium design itself—rather, it was about neighborhood planning around the stadium. This one guy’s lack of experience working on soccer stadiums as such doesn’t mean anything in context

LOL. Can you Zoom in the Third Rail and pipe their cheering over the loudspeakers? I'm kidding, but maybe there's a way to have fans participate in the game remotely. Now is the time for crazy ideas.
I was thinking about that. Give current STH a special link that provides access to pre-game meetings, mic'd up players or managers, a unique or different view of the game, post-game content, etc. Those may all be silly ideas, but was wondering if there are unique ways to make it special for the supporters.

Everything should be on the table. Find new and inventive ways to reach your fanbase once games return.

Yea, this is the time to be creative, even if it is corny.
The first “zoom-esque” company that develops a legitimate hologram feature is gonna make bank. This is Ready Player One territory......

Another stadium, non-stadium item I wanted to bring up. When we have our own stadium, what would game start times look like? Obviously, it's based on the regional and national TV schedule. If the Yankees have a game at 7 PM, would we be playing at 4 PM on YES? Or would be play at 7 PM and be on Amazon-YES?

On a weekend? They'll probably try to make it fit into a TV window when they can. But on weekdays we'd still play at 7pm. Can't play a weekday afternoon game.
