My take would be that if you're asking a candidate who is trying to turn your home opener into a campaign promo event, dressed in team regalia, chanting the songs and banging the drum, he´s going to say exactly what you want to hear. Whether he'll actually support the stadium at a neutral forum where there are people pro and against in attendance, I have no clue.
"I think a beautiful new soccer stadium would be a great addition to the Bronx community and I am very excited to explore this opportunity with the community stakeholders for our City" -Not an actual quote

From a pure neutral perspective on it, I don't remember where I saw it, but I saw a quote from Yang stating how he thinks building things will help the economic downturn, so it's very possible he's looking at something like this project in that light.

I don't know how true that is because de Blasio was part of the opening ceremonies of the historic inaugural home opener and killed the stadium deal.

based on how the media is portraying debozo as being happy go lucky these days, he's already given up on this city and doesn't give a shit about anything. he's ready to leave office and is in cruise control, say anything they want to hear and let the next guy deal with it, mode.

not that he ever said anything of significance during his tenure other than excuses.

our next mayor, whoever it is, will be our best hope for a new stadium. otherwise, it'll easily be another 8 years of waiting for an announcement...

Their stated plan was to build a modular stadium at York College. I am going to assume the announcement is confirming that, as I haven't heard any other rumors. But who knows.

yes though they had originally mentioned that they planned on playing a few games at citifield as well. There were also tweets that they were looking for a permanent home, actually building a stadium as well ( modular was supposed to be temporary) and the one of the places was a former factory thats a couple of blocks away from york college ( i think there was also reports that we looked in to that area as well but nothing came of it), this was pre covid so who knows.

are these garages that would be demoed for the stadium? I'm not sure I understand the purpose of purchasing a portion of the lease. Please educate me!
At least one, possibly two of these garages would be demoed. The others would be part of other development that would be part of the overall project.

The garages are fairly split up so that the lease can be split, but contains several different properties. So it's not like they would be demolishing "half" of a building or anything.

thanks for the clarification. for some reason i thought they were looking to actually buy the land and my brain got mixed up wondering what the point is to buy a lease of a parking garage that's to be demoed? but the lease, is for the land the garage sits on and I presume, the rights to develop on it once that's all agreed to and approved.

As we’ve said goodbye to our DP’s we also said goodbye to a lot of members. It’s amazing how many people the likes of Villa, Pirlo and Lampard brought to the club and forums. At the same time a lot of these ‘fans’ were more fans of the players than the club. I think our member base now more accurately reflects the club.

Agree on the awesome reporting!

I just don't think there's much more to say. We know the location, we know the hurdles, we know that there's a lot going on in the background that needs to happen to get this to work -- it's been discussed for nearly 20,000(!!!) posts.

It's awesome to know the dream isn't being given up on, but there's not a whole lot new to add.
