Mendoza showed me more in a few minutes than Shelton has shown since last year. Villa and Mendoza need to be at the top starting tomorrow so they can gel and learn each others tendencies.
This is a bit harsh. A forward can do shite for 89 minutes. But if he scores a goal in minute 90, he had a good game. If he does that all season he had one of the all time best years and crushes the MLS scoring mark. If he scores every other game, he finishes where our captain did last year (with 7 of those coming from the spot). I am excited about Mendoza too, but lots of players have looked great in 20 minute spots. Khiry has a goal and an assist in 2 games. He's shown some good stuff. I think he deserves at least one more game of continuity before losing a starting role. And Mendoza needs one more strong showing off the bench before we coronate him.

agreed, maybe another 2-3 matches even. like you said, 1 goal and 1 assist is pretty good. he clearly has talent, just needs to continue to grow and develop. maybe mendoza does take over eventually, but let it be earned and not just on 20min

And on that note, as someone else pointed out before (I think it was LionNYC ??) Khiry is most likely to miss our next match due to international duty with the U-23s for the Olympic Qualifying. Mendoza should have a chance to start next Saturday.

I have also jumped partly in the start Mendoza bandwagon, but definitely do agree that limited time off the bench isn't always comparable to starting and playing 60+ minutes. Fresh legs coming on against a tired defense is a bit more likely to shine.

Great reminder. That will be an interesting lineup as we will also lose Mata to international duty. Will be an interesting week for the formation speculation thread.

Mix, Khiry, and Matarrita all likely to be gone for that one.

Just got added on Fifa 16 - time to start a new career mode

I think his given name is Stiven but he englishes it up (not a thing) and makes it Steven.
My name is Dejan. It's not pronounced like Dijon mustard at all. The J is more of a Y and I got tired of people butchering my name and use Dan (as soon as I could learn to speak English).
Like Bojan from Stoke?

Bo-yan.

Still very early, but Mendoza seems like a guy that could spend his entire career in MLS with success.

To play in MLS, you need very good physical skills - Mendoza has a ton with his pace and quickness, and even showed some decent strength for his size. 9/10

To succeed in MLS, you need to have some technical skills - Mendoza seems above average in technical ability, which no doubt will lead to goals against this league's backlines. 7.5/10

To graduate MLS, in addition to the above, you need great awareness, tactical, and decision making skills - Mendoza has yet to show much in this category, but perhaps will develop more chemistry with the squad. 5/10

Seems like an MLS guy to me.
