The Jason Kreis Appreciation Thread

Vieira is very highly thought of and tipped to be a club manager very soon.
He went on a long unbeaten run for city u21s, and the couple of times I saw them, the team played in his image - rampaging work rate.

I'd be excited if we hired him.
He'd bring 2 things Kreis doesn't seem to :
A winning mentality and our players will believe in him - for all he's achieved and his vast knowledge.

He's accomplished nothing in MLS though and most likely the restrictions in roster development will confuse him on how to solve problems (i.e. "We'll just bring in a striker, wait we don't have cap for that?").

Kreis is considered an MLS master though. What did he do in the offseason or in season that only an MLS insider could have thought of?

Seems to me he fucked up in the draft, played a 451 with no wingers and no target striker, and wasted cap dollars on his friends. I think a non-MLS guy could do all that too.

What combination of good and bad judgment calls by them give you that confidence?

CFG did their homework before spending $100 million to buy into MLS. They understand that the league works differently from the Premier League; and they know what they don't know.

We all saw Ruud Gullit floundering in L.A.; no one is going to make that mistake again. It's inconceivable that they'd leave a foreign coach without the assistance of someone who is up on the MLS rules.

Like Claudio Reyna?

Reyna as Sporting Director would presumably be the guy who decides who'd get that post under a foreign manager.

Of course, that's a tricky spot to fill. The person would not only have to be someone who is expert in the rules, but also someone whom the foreign manager can work with. This means that it would be risky to have that person in place before hiring the manager.

Clearly the logistical problems with such an approach are significant. But, if CFG and Reyna think that they can pull it off with Vieira, then I'd be OK with it.

But do these rumours mean that the team's management believes that there's absolutely no chance of luring Arena home? Before approaching anyone else, wouldn't it be best to wait until the season is over (and hope that the Galaxy win again) and then take a shot at him?

I don't know what that means but i know it has nothing to do with his time in NY

They were all people with zero MLS experience but with decent European experience who were given resources and failed miserably in MLS.

I'm surprised with this roster in year one NYCFC was able to get as far as it did. Orlando did barely better and they had Kaka all year (most of year). Think their thinking of firing their coach? Nope.

Adrian Heath has been the manager of Orlando since 2011. He's knows the American game. But you guys know how to cherry pick and troll like the best of them.

Whoa wait a second, Heath has been their coach for a few years and they were an established team with a known schedule, off season etc, not to mention with Kaka most of the year, Kaka in the midfield. You really can't compare the two, in fact I would tend to say that Orlando is more of a failure then NYCFC is this year because even with all of that they still fail to make the playoffs, yes I don't think they will make it, in a weak eastern conference.

I watch a lot of Orlando games and believe me we would be calling for Heath's head over here in this forum with some of the lineup and decisions he has made.

I guess it depends where you look. On the mls subreddit, the Red Bull fans have been very sarcastically #kreisout because they think firing him with set us back.

What is this based on, just faith/their money/hope? You've seen more evidence of City Football Group making good decisions than bad decisions with NYCFC?

Why can't people grasp that he can be bot a good manager and the wrong manager for us?

He can be a good manager and have an awful performance here. Or, he may be bad at his job period without someone else building him a perfect squad for the one method he knows. In that case, we could moneyball any manager into the role, so who cares.

None of us know the answer. But he sucked this year, and he hasn't offered much reason for belief that he will turn it around. It's not unreasonable for people to want a change or not. Either is justifiable. Folks come down on different sides. So what?

Yes, I've *totally* seen a great CFG decision. They decided to put an MLS team in New York, and to stock it with three international star DPs. I don't think we could've asked for more.

I understand everyone wanted to win, but as it was only our first season ever I don't think that was at all realistic.

I've had a great time this season, and I'll be happy to be there on Sunday. And if it's #KreisIn next season or #KreisOut, either way I'll be there. Looking forward to arguing about it all winter, too.

I have to post this and underline it:

I attended the 10/23/2015 Cityzens Open Practice at Yankee Stadium

Today for the first time since Jason Kreiss has come to my life through my living room TV as a member of the USMNTand as coach of NYCFC ...

I saw the Man Smiling! Smiling !Smiling as he shook my hand:)

Jason if you would had smiled at least occasionally ,I believe we probably would had made it to the playoffs.

Man, You got to smile once in a while- you are a handsome man
