Can someone please explain to me when third rail will have a group meeting. So far the events I've been to were only focused on games and events. No real meeting.

Our first "real" official meeting was on May 17th, in the interim we've had many events that haven't specifically focused on the functions and structure of the Third Rail.

All I can say at this point, is that we will be scheduling another official meeting soon.

Plenty to discuss!

Question about the TR: in the membership benefits post on twitter it says "the ability to sit with the third rail" Is that similar to what the sons of ben do where we cant sit in a particular section because we dont have a membership?

There will be a Third Rail only section in the Supporter/Standing Section. This section will be reserved for Third Rail members only. However, Third Rail members can choose to sit elsewhere if they wish.

We are doing it this way because
  1. It will help us police ourselves better. We can only be held accountable for things that happen in our designated section. (If someone breaks stadium rules outside of our section, the Third Rail will not be held responsible)
  2. Helps the clubs image, We are working with the club to find the best spot for our section for viewing and to show a concentrated group of supporters on TV.
  3. Builds unity. We want to give paid members exclusive access to our section so that we don't get diluted with fans that are not part of our group. This will help us keep unity in our chants etc.
  4. Security standards. The stadium security will know who we are and where we sit. They will also be informed of our culture, tifos, chants etc. They will allow us to carry out special celebrations that they may not allow for other sections.
  5. Comfort for non Third Rail supporters. We do not want our flags/banners and tifo's to get in the way of supporters who do not want to take part. Having a designated area will help us.

We are looking to have an official meeting in August. No date has been finalized but the meeting should be announced before the end of July. If you have any particular things you would like to discuss before then, all the board members are open to discuss via phone, email etc. Just let me know!

Thanks for the response. Much appreciated. Looking forward to it.

When you say members do you mean paid members? Or just ALL members. Because i want to sit with the supporters but im not into the whole membership thing. And if our sections are for TR members only, what happens to the non TR people who have season tickets in those sections?

TR members will sit within a section withing the General Admission / Supporters Section.

These numbers are completely arbitrary. Say the General Admission / Supporters Section is section 100, 101 and 102. In this hypothetical situation section 100 is TR exclusive. While 100, 101 and 102 are all Standing Room Only, in order to stand with TR you need to be a member which will allow you to stand in section 100. Otherwise you can pay for GA ticket and stand anywhere else in 101 and 102.

Members refer to paid members. To become an official member of the Third Rail, the annual dues for membership must be paid.

Non TR people will not have season tickets in the TR section. NYCFC and the TR are working together to block off a section/sections for the TR before seat selection begins. So, when people pick their seats and choose not to sit with the TR, they will not have the option to pick seats within the TR section.

The TR section will only be a portion of the entire Supporters Section. So non TR members can still support in their own way in the standing section.

When did this change? Wasn't the Third Rail supposed to encompass ALL supporters, and then there was going to be another smaller group for paid members?

I am not sure when this decision was made as I joined the board after this had been decided (after the Mad Hatter meeting).

The reasoning is partially to avoid having to create two large entities from the start, and also to avoid the confusion that was evident amongst so many people. It was nearly impossible to begin two entities with their own branding, names and the like. But, it's to focus all our efforts in building out one single group with numbers. People can still sit by the TR by being in the supporters section, but you just won't have the perks paid members will have.

It's not like much has changed, there is just one single group called the TR. We will have many events open to non members. But to receive the benefits that the group provides you need to be a paying member. The group is non for profit, all the money the group receives goes back into the TR, towards making a better fan experience for it's members. The more members, the bigger scale of benefits we can provide.

You can go wherever you want. I'm waiting for a Bronx chapter. No membership fee required. Just want a real closely knit group.

Bronx Football Social Club (the Goodfellas) can be reached at http://www.facebook.com/BXFSC and on Twitter @BXFSC. We're sitting in the top rows of 234 and will be pre-gaming at various establishments around Yankee Stadium. In a nutshell, we're a drinking club with a football problem. We have no fees; the only requirements are love of football, banter and sexy jams.
