Toronto (Away) - Postmatch

I mean as bad as some of our DPs may have been i think you guys are going a little too hard on Maxi. Hes a 10 and a ball distributor, so he can only be as good as the players around him allow him to be. But even with all that he was an MVP candidate, hardly a flop. One good game for Pozuelo does not make him anywhere near a better signing than maxi is/was. He may end up being better but saying it now is a bit absurd to me.
He’s better. He’s not better as a piece of silly putty like we use Maxi. But he’s way the heck better as a 10 than Maxi will ever be.

Because we want to sell Mitrita in two years. That’s obvious, no??
How do we do that when we give him no decent support?

If longevity isn’t the advantage of buying a Mitrita, I’d argue there isn’t one. And that his purchase then just further proves that CFG has no intention of actually pursuing an MLS trophy.

I dont think those are related items. It makes rational sense for any club to buy appreciating assets regardless of their end goals

The Pozuelo better than Maxi is not a guarantee but an opinion. As I said, during Maxi's tenure we have played way shittier teams than what NYCFC was last Friday, and Maxi has never had a game as complete and utterly dominant as Pozuelo had against us. The argument that "it is only 1 game" can go either way: you could say that it was a fluke and he won't be as good every week, or you could say that because it was his first game since landing 6 days before, Pozuelo may not have been fully fit and fully integrated to the team tactically, so there may be even better performances to come. Who knows. But my money is on him competing with Vela and a handful of others for the MVP. Maxi is very good, and when deployed correctly is a top-10, maybe top-7 number 10 in a league of 22 teams. But Pozuelo may be among the 2 or 3 best.
