USMNT Talk

When is Sands getting the call?

IMO I think he is seen as a u23 player for now, he’s also has had bad luck by getting injured when some call ups happen. I assume he still recovering from his foot surgery

Odd news coming out of Chelsea re: Pulisic and Tuchel.

Speculation says that Puli's been snubbed because Abramovich wants to see his new investments get playing time (Havertz + Werner + Ziyech). Playing time that Lampard wasn't giving them.

Strange that he has yet to start a game under Tuchel, all the while Tuchel heaps praise on him. Also hard because they're unbeaten since Tuchel has taken over.

The issue is that Chelsea have been poor defensively, and so Teuchel has opted for more defensive players in the rotation. This has left Pulisic as the odd man out.

I think it's more due to the formation change under Tuchel than just wanting defensive minded players. (which may be the same thing in the end) He's playing 3 at the back with 2 wing backs. Puli is not going to get in front of Marcos Alonso, Ben Chillwell, or Reece James as a wing back.

Whenever Puli gets subbed on, he gets put up as a forward. He's more effective as a winger coming in from the edges rather than working in the front 3 triangle thing that Tuchel appears to be going for.

Yes, I think you and I are pointing out different sides of the same thing.

Not only is Teuchel using a back 3 with wingbacks, he typically has 2 defensively minded midfielders too. That only leaves 3 field spots for attackers. Plus, as you point out, none of those are wide spots.

The one place where he could feature is at attacking mid, but the coach favors Mount there.

U-23s struggling against honduras. watching them just makes me wonder how different this team would look if sands and parks were playing.

jlew choked on a sitter 6 yards out .. yeesh.

if they fail to qualify it's on kreis. not sure how he keeps getting jobs.
