USMNT Talk

Oh shoot I forgot the pitch invaders and the guy that disappeared that everyone wants to know what happened to him LOL.

But yeah, this game just had everything. I doubt we'll see a game this good and action-packed again in the near future.
And we both forgot that at one point there were 2 balls on the field!

Also, the USA second goal off the corner, that corner was a complete gift. The Mexican defender just fumbled the ball at his feet out for a corner when he really wasn't pressured at all.

Mckennie was dangerous on corners the whole game and that was the culmination, I was really really impressed with his game. Everyone was hyping Pulisic and then McKennie is an absolute wizard

Reyna, Mckinnie, Pulisic, Horvath looked great.
Brooks, Acosta and yedin i thought played well.
Ream was too slow vs mexicos speed.
Feel bad for Mckenzie who had a bad game, young kid and needs to develop more.
Dent was average. Same with Sargent.
Subs all played well.

Sargent i thought used to look good, but recently looks not very good. And now that he's been relegated to the BL2, unless he finds a new BL team, I'd think even Green would be ahead of him on the chart. Even Altidore.... He needs to not just make runs, but actually DO something.

I caught part of the game against the Swiss and was bored. Glad I tuned in for this one as it had everything already highlighted above. Was encouraged to see Pulisic, Reyna and McKennie rise to the occasion. Whatever the status of this trophy/tournament, I thought this game had some of those intangible moments that turn players who are individually good at their clubs into bonded national teammates.

Question for those who follow MNT more closely: commentators mentioned the Gold Cup roster would be different. What are the expectations there?

Random aside: I want more Deuce as commentator, he was cracking me up

Gold Cup will be mostly MLS based players and those on the Nations League roster that were on the bubble or didn't see minutes. Largely due to European club commitments and not wanting those players to play too much during the summer.

No Sands, no Party.

And they belonged to Weston McKinnie.

Or maybe this is more[in]appropriate.

I tried to lock down a gif of him staring down the Mexico side just before the final whistle but couldn’t get it to work.

Meanwhile - nice column on the best 23 for the USA, and it includes a young man from Rye, NY.
