Just brain-storming the names we might add in 2016. I don't think it will be quite the frenzy 2015 has been but there are still a lot of teams that can add big name DPs to their rosters. 2017 should be a better year as Atlanta and LAFC enter the fold both looking pretty damn ambitious and NYCFC and LA Galaxy will have to reload the stars on their rosters.

Anyway, 2016:

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Chicharito
Kevin Prince-Boateng
Xabi Alonso
Wesley Sneijder
Emmanuel Adebayor
Carlos Tevez
John Terry
Joel Campbell
Christopher Samba
Thiago Motta
Michu
Jonas
Aaron Lennon
Patrice Evra
Ashley Cole
Samuel Eto'o
Joe Cole
Joleon Lescott
Yuto Nagamoto
Juan Vargas
Felipe Caicedo
Ron Vlaar

I'd like to see us sign some Asian players, honestly. I think they represent good value and will help attract attention to the league from that part of the world.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Keisuke Honda signed in 2017 when his contract with AC Milan runs out.

Atlanta and LAFC will probably each make at least one DP signing and then loan them out for some time until they are ready to play, like how we loaned Villa to Melbourne.

I don't want to see Zlatan in MLS yet. I want to see Zlatan on NYCFC.

Zlatan is one of those guys who will play wherever their is a big paycheck. Wether that be in Arabia, MLS, or some other league. I don't think he's one too concerned with where he oplays as long as he is payed well.

Of the above mentioned list I could easily see Michu, Eto'o, John Terry, and Aaron Lenon playing in MLS one day.

I really believe Zlatan turning down big money from Manchester United this year means he intends to switch to MLS next year when his contract runs out.

If he were planning on staying in Europe and staying at a big club, he'd have made that Manchester switch this season. Plus, PSG fishing for Ronaldo means Ibra is leaving. No way they'll have the two of them on the same team.

Not really sure why Zlatan would leave now. He's still got the talent to compete at top levels in Europe. Would I mind seeing him in MLS? No. In fact, I'd love to see him playing for an MLS team soon.

He would become the only MLS player with a bigger cult following than Poku.

Which team would be willing to pay Ibra next year? Our spots are full, same with LAG and Toronto. Orlando? Ugh, I'd hate that. Seattle? They already have Dempsey and Martins, but I suppose Dempsey could drop back to CAM and Ibra could play up top with Martins. That's scary as shit.

Overall, I don't think the demand will be there from the MLS side for some of the top players looking to jump. Not until 2017. Unless we dump Lampard somehow, or have Ibra sign a pre-contract and go on a fall loan somewhere like Villa did.

Honda is a great call for the summer of 2017. A couple different teams could be interested in him and have room.

Honda could get signed by LAFC in order to attract fans from the large Asian population in California. That move makes a lot of sense to me.

All true but if I guy like him says he wants to come and play for certain team I can't see the MLS not doing whatever it takes to make it happen regardless of DP slots. They cooked up a new rule for Dos Santos imagine what they would do to get Ibra.

New Jersey, Orlando, Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, San Jose?

In fact, I wonder if New Jersey's gone low-key for a year in order to splash the cash for Zlatan next year...

I can't see Terry and Tevez playing in MLS, I think Terry will retire as a Chelsea player and join their coaching staff, Tevez has just signed for Boca and will almost certainly finish his career in Argentina.

I think Zlatan will be the next big name player to go MLS next year, prehaps Yaya Toure as well.

As much as I hate seeing our rivals add talent, I gotta say that adding Ibra to either side of the derby would be a lot of fun.

He'd be the highest paid player in MLS. And my cult following of Poku is pretty big.

Come on Garber, let's get that 4th DP spot. I'd also be okay with a sign and loan situation with Man City. They can have him for 2016, we get him 2017 when Lampard is gone.

New rule called the Garber Conversion Mechanism. At any point, you can trade in two international spots, plus $1MM, for one additional DP spot up to four total. The DP cap hit remains the same as it was in 2015 despite the cap raising 7%. Ta-da!

Maybe LAFC or Atlanta will sign and loan him until 2017?

Maybe CFG will sign and loan him to 2017.

There's possibilities. Even a 4th DP.

Agreed.

Remember what happened last time we "loaned" them a player? Why in the sky blue fuck would anyone suggest that again? My asshole is clenching thinking about loaning to Man City.

I really believe Zlatan is heading to the MLS! That would be a coup for the MLS. If he is indeed making that move, my money says it will be with either the NYCFC or the Red Bulls.

I believe this has not been discussed, but Zlatan just purchased an apartment in TriBeca in NYC earlier this month!!!

Sheesh! Zlatan is so popular that people track his housing purchases?! It's amazing to me that people are obsessed with him enough to track his purchases.
