Yangel Herrera [Midfielder]

Lyon president today said they had to find another option since Herrera wouldn't be joining them.

You're burying the notable word...now...He may leave in January.
Again, my French isna but rusty but the original quote may be better interpreted as "they're not allowing him to leave at the moment"

So yes they could still want him in January but they're looking for a midfielder right now. And really what kind of team would they be if they identify needing help in a position and fail to address it in their transfer window.

I see what you did there

He's been called up by the senior team. We won't have a bench at this rate come SKC
What a joke this making MLS look like. No team should have to play during an official international break. If we lose a game because we're playing our entire developmental roster and no bench, it's gonna be a travesty. Can we challenge SKC to a winner takes all PlayStation match instead?

Blame CONCACAF for this.

It is ridiculous, but I think MLS generally allows clubs to pick whether to play in FIFA periods or crunch the games in elsewhere. Our extra problem, as you might have heard, is our stadium situation does not allow for much flexibility. I think there was some news highlighting that this week, but I can't quite remember. Anybody help me out?

I find it impossible to believe that the original schedule couldn't have found other dates, even if we had more midweek games, that kept us from playing during international breaks. I don't buy the argument for a second. MLS should make our schedule first, since we have the least amount of options and then peg the other teams' dates around ours. Not rocket science.

You're probably right, but I think NYCFC might have chosen this option over more midweek games and multi-game weeks. I think PV was kind of scarred by that POR-TOR-RBW experience last year.

Sure, but wasn't that all away matches? It could work if the extra dbl-weeks were home matches.

PlayStation is NYC_Chris console of choice so I'm good with that. Remember, we have an actual FIFA player on our payroll.

Find the weeks where the Yankees are Away the requisite days, where we don't already have a midweek game, and then get SKC to agree to play an extra midweek game with the travel we just avoided because we loaded up on international team players and they didn't.

Not my job to find the dates - the league and team has people to do it. They dropped the ball.

SKC also has National team players, so it helps them too. But more importantly, it helps the fans because we're the ones paying for tickets and we didn't do so with the intent to watch a majority of developmental players kick longballs; if we wanted that we'd go to Coney Island and watch the Kosmos.

The argument that you can't be bothered to check if what you are demanding is even possible does not impress.

Then we should be as willing to travel midweek as you are willing to impose on SKC, which just circles us back to my earlier point about PV not wanting that. Whatever. Take the last word if you want it. We've gone in a circle.

TBF, SKC had a couple weeks where they were out Besler, Zusi, EPB, and Espinoza because of international appearances. Opara also got that nasty concussion so they were really hurting.

You know that I throw backup info down every opportunity, so I don't appreciate that shade.

but here you go:
1. move the Sunday April 23rd game to Saturday night (the Yankees finished their previous game Wednesday night, so perhaps not 72 hours but maybe 68 hours in between).
2. Move Columbus game to Sunday April 30th - they control their stadium so it's not an issue.
3. Add Tuesday Match at YS so the field can be turned over to the Yankees on the 28th for their night game (again, likely a 68-70 hour window that should be easily accommodated).
4. The extra Tuesday match is not ideal being only three days after the Orlando match, but with both being home games, there's no travel. It also gives an extra day than is normal for the third match vs Columbus, so somewhere between short/regular rest.

That took all of 5 minutes to check. It does require some graciousness on the YS Grounds crew part to lose 2-4 hours (5%) of their allotted time, but again, I find it impossible to believe those hours are critical to success.
