Yankees Complaining About Stadium Sharing Thread

Born a yankees fan, and "born" a NYCFC fan. Considering the old stadium hosted multiple seasons of the Cosmos, and that the old stadium had a darn sewer grate in CF, I think this is firmly in the "first world problems" category.

My thoughts on why this "scandal" is a waste of time.

What all of this is saying is that for a Yankees player to already be formulating excuses for the field before they have even seen how it plays is a bit presumptuous and rather naive. It almost feels like causing trouble for the sake of it. One gets the sense that if Derek Jeter was still playing these comments would have stayed in-house. Sometimes knowing what battles to get involved in is the key to victory, and he would know that this is not a fight worth having

I couldn't agree more on both point - as well as your article. I defected from a Mets family at 7 because Donnie Baseball was amazing and we share a 4/20 birthday. I don't know when NYC became so soft and complained about first world nonsense. Teams have shared arenas since beginningless [sporting] time. It is not our mentality - especially our sporting mentality to gripe about nonsense before it is even an issue. I'd support the team if they were playing in Bryant Park...which ago walked passed today and it actually looks a lot like Yankee stadium right now since they just removed the ice skating rink.

Just to comment on the constant insinuations that Yankees may tire of this groundshare agreement including questions put to executives like Garber in past day. Its not impossible obviously but you can virtually GUARANTEE it won't be this year. If so then could you spell LAWSUIT? Fans have purchased season tickets not just based on personal finances but in some cases convenience of location. It would be a logistical nightmare to rip up any agreement within the present year. I would assume there is something legally binding.

If starting next year the agreement does change (and there's nothing to justify that yet) then there's really not much point moaning about it. Their stadium and their choice...but it won't be this year.

It has been delightful covering New York City FC and MLS. The players embrace their roles as ambassadors and recognize it is a privilege to compete on the professional level in their sport. One of the more notable is NYCFC forward David Villa, Spain’s all-time leading scorer and the face of the franchise. He is accessible, affable and working hard to learn the language. Teixeira, on the other hand, represents the spoiled millionaires of Major League Baseball who receive more in meal per diem than some of their fans make in a week. It was an ignorant comment by Teixeira who is not versed in agronomy and the method to maintain a field surface. Perhaps he should look at the bright side. A poor surface might lead to some bad-hop singles to help elevate his paltry .216 batting average from a season ago (.226 over the last three seasons at $22-23 million per year).

Tex...

This 1st match may be the only time all season where the lines in the field are cut for soccer and not baseball. Let's enjoy it
