Yellow Card Accumulation (updated Oct 7)

Man, that would be a disaster if Villa went out on yellow card accumulation because he took his shirt off! What post-Victorian reason is that a reason for giving a yellow card? Is this an MLS rule or one adopted from FIFA?

I can't imagine Brandi Chastain got a yellow card for her celebration!
"Removing one's shirt after scoring is unnecessary and players should avoid such excessive displays of joy."

Actual page from FIFA rules:

I swear, that arrow is in the rule book and I did not add it in!

That's page 50. Worth downloading for the other jersey photos on page 51-54. Bonus on page 55: masks!

The rule went into effect in July of 2004

I don't know how to quote text from my mobile but maybe you (you know who you are) should try not to be such a donkey and people might talk to you IRL not just an online forum.

I stand by both prior statements. Villa showed emotion and leadership to get #3. #4 was unlucky.

Oh, burn me. You have exposed the sadness that is my life, with a beautiful family, productive hobby, and excellent career.
And this after I very nicely said in another thread that I hope you enjoy the new tickets you're adding. Cheers, and good-bye.

For what it is worth your comment (I think it was you) about there only being 4 games in Sept and 3 in Oct is a very good point. The podcast hosts should have mentioned that and taken into account in their analysis

If Villa gets two yellows in one game (before he gets the fair play benefit) would he miss two games?

Villa has shown more heart and fight that anyone in this team so far. For sure he'll get another yellow and someone else will need to step up.

I worry about this too. His effort and determination involves taking risks, and that means there is a good chance he will pick up another yellow in the next 3 games like the one he picked up yesterday. It may not even be likely, but it's far from zero and is something everyone will watch closely.

There were long spells between his first (CHI 5/15) and second (NJ 6/28), and the second and third (DC 8/13). It's just the third and fourth back to back and that's only because he took his shirt off

No yellow card:

Yeah, I sent that one in to Men in Blazers via Twitter. They haven't replied back with an invitation to be on the show yet, alas, but it's only been a couple of days.

And hey, doesn't that look like a young Dana Carvey?

Updated for Toronto game. Hernandez is now one yellow away from his second suspension.

Edited to fix count on Saunders, who now has 4.
