Yes Broadcast

Next week's match at Toronto will be on YES2. Is that even a channel? All I see when they showed 323 on Time Warner was Time Warner Cable Sports.

They do tend to show live games, I think lots of Syracuse games also college hockey, lacrosse, and I think even some over flow college football games ( though they tend to be lesser known schools). So we'll see if they actually show this game there.

yeah i checked that too the supposed channel yes2 is supposed to be on is listed as TWC Sports

I have to bitch about one thing with the YES broadcast: Can Tolleson and Joy please stop saying "NEW YORK CITY FOOTBALL CLUB" and "NEW YORK CITY FC"? Just call them New York or New York City or NYC. The full name sounds so lumberous and clunky in the run of a call.

Are they both British commentators? I've only seen snippets of games on YES and don't know if I've heard both announcers.

Joy has a heavy Scottish accent, even though he is technically American (right?), and Tolleson is American.
Huh, I would never have guessed that one of them was american based off of his accent.

I'm pretty sure I've said this elsewhere on here before but I have a suspicion that MLS has told them to use the full name. My guess is that it was a condition from the New Jersey team to allow them into the league, just to make sure they could somehow still associate themselves with New York.

I think it's CFG that wants them to use the full name. It's City FC everywhere after all.

That's interesting, and I hadn't thought of it that way. The only counter I have to that is that nobody calls City anything other than City. Certainly Man City as well, once in a while Manchester City, but nobody ever adds FC or Football Club to the end of that.

Also, did you notice that on the back of our socks it just says "City"?

Born in the US, grew up in Scotland, according to wikipedia at least. I had no idea he was American.

I find myself referring to NYCFC more and more as "City", especially in contexts where it is understood that I am talking about the team. Just today I told a Red Bulls fan to watch out because "City are only three points behind the Red Bulls". It feels completely natural.

Whereas, saying "NYCFC" or even "New York City FC" is necessary if you are bringing up the topic of the team, or if you are talking about them in a non-football-related environment.

So, in the broadcasts, Joy and Tolleson should really be saying "City" most of the time.
