I thought this guy was on loan with New Mexico? Is he just flying back and forth for random trainings and attend games he's not going to feature in?

Pic from Sunday.

New Mexico United have their next match on May 4th, so I imagine players are given some vacation time.

ah ok. guess it would have made sense for me to look at their schedule.

if that's the case, then yea, probably so. i saw him in the inside training video too.

$50K GAM. Retired.
Guy retires and we get $50k for someone else to make him a coach? God bless MLS. Unless this is a FIFA rule?
I’ll take it as I guess it’s the rule but I think when you retire as a player you should move freely to any other job without compensation from the new employer.
Good for him though making the transition.

I get that being a professional athlete is really difficult but damn to basically be an mls player for all of your career and not play a single MLS minute in either the open cup or regular season has gotta hurt. He’s played the open cup but only in the USL championship on loan. It’s gotta feel like you’re so close to your moment but never actually having it. That’s gotta be bitter. But hey, if I got paid to practice a game with some friends everyday I’d take the money.

Yeah that's ridiculous. I guess it went that he officially retired "after" the trade so NYCFC could get compensation. But kind of silly to require compensation for a retiring player.
