Fingerprints To Speed Access Into Stadium

Interesting. It says you need to pay $179 to "upgrade" which appears to be an extra fee to use the service at airports. It says it will be free to sign up and use at YS.

Not sure what this really means in the end. The lines have been much quicker after the first couple of months.

Nah, I don't want my prints coming up in any databases. It would connect me to so many crimes lol!
Seriously though, i'll take a wait and see approach to this. I'm not so concerned about my prints being somewhere, the government already has mine from meps, so it really would not be a big deal. I'm not planning any crime spree's in the near future, so if it's proven to be extremely convenient and instead of waiting 30 minutes when i'm running late to get in and it takes 5, i'll probably do it.

lol no, though what could happen is they force anyone thats in an official supporters group to do this if things get out of hand.

Just get there earlier and enjoy watching the guys warm up, walk around with a beer, get started on your chicken bucket. I've never had to wait going into the stadium an hour before the game.
I tend to do that, but coming from MA via 15 &/or 95 in CT can often delay my arrival. It's not so bad for a 27k game match, I can still get in rather quickly, but for big events like the RB match when I arrived to the gate about 15 minutes early, it took 35 minutes to get in. I'm the kind of person who does not mind paying to avoid a line like that, I simply hate lines. Depending on how these lines work, I may go for it.

In a round about way they already do that in Poland (though not necessarily fingerprints).

If you're not officially registered with the team and in possession of an official ID card, you're not getting tickets.

And I agree with Toe.......my son and I get there about an hour before the start and we breeze right in.

While that is an aggressive marketing strategy (though less so when you consider that Poland is not exactly the home of friendly, family football and there wouldn't be many people who would want to attend games who weren't already signed up) it's not quite the same thing as giving someone biometric data on yourself which will be kept on a government database.

Since the bag screening is the hold up, this seems pointless as it does nothing to help out on that front.

Basically, it's a way for people not to carry a card. I hope their scanners work better than the iPhone of my thinkpad. Otherwise, it'll just be worse for lines for the people behind the 5 goobs who sign up.

Totally true, but that's why you need to be registered to purchase tickets.......they want to keep the scum out and if you're caught causing trouble they simple revoke the card. Don't really want to be a tinfoil hat wearer, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if a small part of this is to keep an eye on things.

FWIW the team I follow (Jagiellonia) and a lot of other teams are trying to turn things around and make going to matches very family friendly. The only team i'm aware of that has a severe ultra(moron) problem is Legia. There could possibly be more, I'm just unaware at the moment.

I think this is probably a promotion between the Yankees and the company that's doing it. Remember, this is really focused on airports, and the company wants $179 for you to get the airport benefit.

This doesn't keep you from the bag check and my guess is that you would still have to scan your card or show a ticket. But, it may keep you from having to do the metal detector. It also seemingly gets you in a shorter, more exclusive line.

Ah. Guess my reading comprehension is way off today as I missed the airport reference in your earlier post. That makes the most sense of all as to why they're doing it.

Still rather get to the stadium an hour earlier. ;)

I got caught stealing a choco-taco in middle school and there's no way I want that shame popping up every home game.

Where have the chaco tacos gone?

They will link fingerprints on smoke bomb canisters to this ID system.

How specific do I have to get before people re-posting the same thing I just did is an okay thing to bust balls about?
