Sounds like what several MLS clubs are already doing. In fact, RSL has had a soccer-only HS and academy in Arizona for several years. DC and RB have u12s etc. One of their RSL's coaches was Munoz who Galaxy stole away and is mentioned in that article.
But it's true Southern California is a treasure trove of soccer talent and Galaxy need to mine it. I wonder what will happen when LAFC show up. Some of the arguments that the Galaxy make in that article won't exactly apply anymore. It's a similar situation to what NYCFC and RB find themselves in.
