mgarbowski mgarbowski HAS HIS ANSWER!!! Blame the Danish embassy! hah

it's in the first minute or two of the interview, it's the first question asked :)
Haha, to be fair, we're not certain the Danish embassy is to blame. He just said his appointment at the embassy was more complicated than anticipated. Very well could be on the US side of things.

Also, Malte quickly turned into a favorite of mine after this conference call. He seemed incredibly candid and gracious and I'm going to enjoy rooting for him. Hope his play on the field matches his personality.

I thought that too. Seemed like a good kid with no BS. Looking forward to seeing him develop and hope he turns into our left side tinner.

we'll need another tshirt "Malte Amundsen is also good at soccer"

How dare you! That's solely reserved for Anton Tinnerholm!

well, what are you gonna do if Malte somehow out performs tinny and ends up with 10 goals and 12 assists on the season or something?

perhaps a tshirt incentive would help our players perform consistently better? haha

I agree. Very awesome and endearing guy. He's the kind of player that once covid is over, maybe we'll see him at fan meetings like when Sims said he wanted to do more public meetings. He seems very personable.

...Also can I say the part where the reporter asked "Having been signed for $10,000,000... or well, not dollars but local currency..." and then the NYCFC guy was like "I JUST WANT TO BE CLEAR HE WAS NOT SIGNED FOR $10,000,000 AND WE CAN'T RELEASE FINANCIALS" was hilarious

Yeah, I guess he was talking about 10m in the Danish currency (krones). Wikipedia mentioned his fee was "DKK 10 million", though the article linked to that piece of it seems to say it was 9.75m (https://ekstrabladet.dk/sport/fodbo...lte-amundsen-for-kaempe-millionbeloeb/8468660)

But I may just be arguing semantics (with myself really) as the fee could have been in USD and depending when exactly you converted it, I suppose there could have been some variance in krones.

According to the current exchange that would be around $1.6m

Before he was signed i had just painted my entire apartment an off white color called "Malted Milk". I think its a sign. So i hope he plays as well as my walls look.

P.S. I'd buy that shirt.
