Hi guys,

Ill be over in NY for this (WED 29th 9pm KO) and wouldnt mind watching it in a good atmosphere ?

Any suggestions of where to watch ? I'm guessing Ryans Daughter will have it on, am i right ?

Also Ive just seen Lampard has been included in the squad to play Spurs what do you think ? Personally its a bad move for NYC to risk anymore time out, but I can understand from a advertising point of view ............

Don't think NYCFC have a choice in the matter

Is there any way that our boys will play for us on the Aug 1 match? This is my first experience with MLS all star game and I already hate it.

Yes this is my concern as well. but i guess it may not be too bad since i dont think villa or lampard plays more than a half. still, the travel etc can have a toll.

Crazy that Giovinco didn't make the starting XI.
Just a heads up - it's not actually the starting 11.

The coach picks the full roster minus the two commissioner picks. So in actuality, despite the fan XI being presented, the only two players guaranteed to be on the roster are Lamps and Stevie G.

If the coach wants all of the Fan XI, he can take them all, but if he wants none, he can actually take none as well.

By the same token, guys voted into the fan XI don't have to start.

Giovenco will make it - dude has to. I don't think he'll start, but he'll probably be an impact sub.

I am hoping they dont waste Lampard too much and just stick him on for a 1/2

I'm coming over for the Orlando game 26th then he will play the MLS all stars 29th and then I have a ticket for Montreal on the 1st. I do hope he plays both NYCFC games. Hopefully his fitness will be okay by then and he can play of string of games but its a big ask.

That being said I did book these tickets to come over from the UK to see Lampard but after watching every televised game and keeping up to date with all the NYCFC news I have become a massive fan so I am still buzzing for both games whatever happens.

which is ridiculous, but i guess this is their marketing spot so they have to take full advantage of it.

Any tips on where to watch the All stars Game in Manhattan ?
Nevada Smith's isn't a bad place. If Ryan's Daughter is showing the game, that's obviously a good place to go. No idea what they have planned, though. To be honest, the All Star Game is not usually on the top of mind for most MLS fans.

Yeah, you're not going to waste it on a guy like Bradley or Dempsey, who will be on guaranteed. Same for Giovenco, etc.

If you're looking to measurably increase ratings in key markets and have two picks to make that are entirely non-Football related, they're as good as any, I suppose. If he had another two weeks, he probably would have used those spots on Dos Santos and Cheech.

Good to know, thanks for that. This is my first MLS All-star game.

Why the hell let the fans vote if the players aren't guaranteed to make the team. Seems just like a silly marketing gimmick.

ugh, there's a fine line between trying to attract more people to MLS (adding Lamps and Stevie G to the all-star team without ever playing a game) and disrespecting current MLS players who are working hard (for considerably less pay) to make a name for themselves and grow MLS in general.

Last year was the first year I've watched the all-star game. It's a somewhat silly exercise, especially taking a bunch of players who don't usually play with each other and asking them to take on an actual club.

Still, last year's game was fun to watch. It was both Donovan's last game, and featured Bayern Munich with all those players who had just won the World Cup for Germany. It didn't disappoint. We got to see Donovan score the winning goal - against his former club team, no less. We also got to see Pep Guardiola act like a petulant fool after the game. Good times.

p.s. I assume you've already got Orlando tickets, but if not - get on that.

It's the same as the NBA All Star Game. These guys haven't played together, don't have any plays. It's just about big style, names, and swag. Slam dunks, crossovers, spin movies, and GOLAZOOOOO!
