what the... don't tell me perea came back too soon. that would suck.
Looks like Keaton and Shore need to shine. I actually don't hate that as a partnership. Would prefer not to see gustavo start, but seems like he will.
Cavallo is going through a trial by fire now. Hope he can rise to the challenge because so far, he has fallen a bit short imo.

Let's not rotate at all during our stretch of heavy schedule congestion, what's the worst that could happen.

Don't have the data in front of me to verify but if I recall, Cushing did the same thing and ran our starters into the ground. Basically because he didn't have the roster to rotate properly. When was the last time we had a coach that confidently rotated? Did we ever?
When was the last time an NYCFC coach had a roster with enough depth to allow for confident rotation? I know I have been piling on Pascal as well but the Pascal criticism that's creeping up lately feels unfair in many of the same ways it often did with Cushing. Give them man a fully built roster. We have no striker. Our depth on the wings and at the FB position is abysmal. It's absurd at this point.

The wingback position is where we are hurting the most at the moment. It's pathetic.
We have no starting LB. KOT should be LB depth, or a midfielder. Cavallo is depth. Raul is a CB. We have a solid RB in Gray, wish we still had Ilenic but he didn't want to be here as a 1B to Gray's 1A. Zero depth behind Gray.
And no center forward.

The more I watch the same pattern play out with our coaches the more I come to believe that rotation is the manager's job, whether or not they feel confident. It's the manager's job to give all the players rest and build the game plan around when he has to start weaker players in specific roles. Every year (or frequently enough) it seems we go through the same pattern:
- We can't possibly rotate in weaker players because we'd drop points.
- We exhaust our starters and drop points.
- We continue to run down our starters until they get injured.
- We are forced to rotate in the weaker players.
- I'd have to go back and check the record, but my hazy memory (or lazy wish because it satisfies my argument without me having to go back and look) is that those players often step up and we often do just as well as we had been doing.

Update: There's a chance of thunderstorms with heavy rain from 3:00 to 5:00pm. Not guaranteed to hit the stadium but something to keep in mind.
Thundestorms on the forecast for like 3ish and 7ish. we miiiiiight just be able to scrape through with normal game time though, will be interesting to see how they work it.
Good performance. Nice to see Hannes have such an effective match. Right place, right time. Ojeda is showing some quality now. Thankfully, Columbus brought their concrete boots today.
Will need to rotate a bit against Charlotte. We need to emphasize the Jersey game and the Open Cup afterwards.

Was nice for Wolf to get some goals. Hopefully the start of a streak for him into the WC break.
Ojeda looked good and hopefully will continue to improve. He definitely needs to be more confident and develop a faster trigger.
I like the way we look with Parks running the midfield over Oneil. Oneil is fine as an enforcer type role, but Parks is just more aggressive in his forward passing, imo.
I thought we defended with more pride today. Lots of bodies on the line and effort. Always nice to get a clean sheet.
Hope Jansen rotates so we can have fresh players for HRD and USOC, but I have a feeling he won't.
Shout out to Cavallo with a better performance today. Had some good runs down the wing. Just one game though, so let's see how he develops while Otoole is injured.

I think the issue is more so there is no good spots to install them in YS. It has worked to our advantage in the past.. so I'm not too mad at it. just another 1 year and a few months to go... hopefully they planned etihad park for upgrading to new tech like goal line and semi-auto offsides.ZYanksRule said:
