Ny Red Bulls 2 To Play In Nyc

I have to admit I've seen a couple of those "Ha-Ha right in their back yard " posts myself and they did have me scratching my head. Somehow I really don't think a Division 3 club being tucked away up there at Columbia drawing about 500 fans (on a good day) is going to be of any concern to NYCFC.

I'm guessing the first half of their season will be played in Red Bull Arena?

I didn't see a reason why they're having these matches at Columbia. Was it scheduling issues with the MLS team in Harrison?

Yes, I'm certain they're playing their first five or six home matches at Red Bull Arena before going to Columbia.

I guessing it's probably less of a scheduling problem and more of a cost efficiency exercise for the switch in venues.

If anyone is gonna catch a game there, let me know. I live across the street and go to Columbia soccer all the time. It's a nice little spot to chill and watch a game.

I feel like red bull fans will make the trip just to spite nycfc fans or at least try to. Outside of that are there many who will go and see a third division game for a reserve team in nyc? if it was for nycfc i dont even know i would even go even if its in manhattan ( Though technically its farther than going to YS for me )

i dont see this as a big deal, had nycfc not existed i am sure red bull would not even think of having games in manhattan.

Them considering a location in NYC is our backyard is a sign that we're ahead in the soccerwarz.

Really stupid decision by that franchise. Their fan base is located in New Jersey. No one from New Jersey is driving to Columbia to see a game. Would have made a lot more sense to play at FDU or Rutgers.

Good for them. I guess playing in Manhattan and close to the subway will get about 600 people into the stadium instead of the 500 they got in RBA over the weekend.:D
