Goalkeepers: Here is clear that Josh Saunders has exceed our expectations. He's has hearth, he has saved us many times. We would be worst without him. He's has earned his place as starting GK. Then we have Ryan Meara. I'm not going to destroy a guy for that awful mistake against Chicago, but that is bound to happen when you don't play regularly. He is not going to be better than Saunders until he gets more playtime and more experience (and I don't see that happening anytime soon). Then we have Akira Fitzgerald and Eirik Johansen: they are "young" and lack experience, both should only see the pitch in case of emergency. We currently have one GK too many. That roster spot could be used somewhere else. Either loan one of them out or trade him.
Right Backs: One of our worst problems. Josh Williams is not that effective attacking (like every other RB) and I feel that he has a hard time getting back. One of the goals at Philadelphia and yesterday's second goal are just exploits of all the space that he leave's behind. If you are a right back and you are going to attack, make sure that someone (CDM) is covering for you and be ready to react to counters. The same could be say about Brovsky (for me, a little bit more effective going forward). Then we have Shay Facey, with a lot of potential and physical the more apt of our RBs, but with all lack of experience of someone who hasn't play professionally. Shay should be a back up, not a solution. Same for, R.J. Allen (it has been unfair with him: playing two really fast wide outs for both games; he's not on the best shape). I would love to have someone better here.
Center Backs: I have been reasonably happy with Jason Hernandez and Chris Wingert, but they have to improve. Kwame Watson-Siriboe doesn't have enough to be a started or even our fist option coming from the bench. This brings me to one of our biggest problems: What is going on with Andres Mendoza? The Front Office preached about his talent and about him being a product of the great scouting network that we have. So? The only thing that they are saying is that he's adapting to a new life, but this guy is a professional soccer player, not a lonely teenager arriving by himself to the big city. If he is not better than Kwame, what's the point of keeping him around?
Left backs: I was so happy when Javier Calle finally started clicking as a LB, and I believe that he's our guy moving forward (or if we get a better CB than Wingert, move Wingert to the left). Brovsky seems more comfortable playing as RB. RJ Allen should not be our first option. We also have Connor Brandt, but he doesn't seem to be on Kreis plans (nor he should be other than as a development player). Let's loan him out to Wilmington and free up some roster space.
