What a dominant performance. One of the best games I’ve seen us play.
Tons of missed chances on top of the 4 goals we scored. Could of been 8 or more if Villa wasn’t rusty and Moralez wasn’t selfish.

My only negative was SJ’s distribution. He seems to boot the ball dowfield with zero idea of where it will drop.

Matarrita was a man possessed in the first half tonight. Shame that the shot hit the crossbar.

Berget is awkward as hell (his shirt was two sizes too big) but he can run the channels and get behind a back line. He also finished his chance and with it exorcised the ghost of Nemec.

Maxi was filthy tonight. And he finished that penalty with authority (I was ready for a weak attempt saved by Rimando).

Ofori growing into the game.

Tinnerholm also was so solid. He’s got wheels.

Insane that they can bring in Villa (arguably the best CF in MLS) and Ring (arguably the best CDM in MLS) for some light practice at the 60th minute.

Their counterpress was amazing. As soon as RSL tried to build out of the back, it was like they were moving through seaweed.

And SJ with several timely saves (no bigger than the one in the 3rd minute).

This team seriously should make a run for the shield and CCL.

Hm, Villa was the best (of all positions, not just CF, value-wise) in MLS, but he may yield that to a new joiner whose name start with letter Z

When was the last time a backup started in place of Villa and acutally scored? Trying to remember if Okoli ever pulled out off? Mendoza? All the way back to Mullins?

Okoli scored at RSL last year. I think it was his only goal. Villa entered later as a substitution.

Wonder if we can beat the mls record of 19 games unbeaten . Have the talent and depth .

I have to say we by far have the best fullbacks in the league . Real salt lake just could not handle them.

Also, Bergert impressed me. Scored a goal and then seconds later came back to defend.

Atlanta will be a tough game but I think we got this .

Ofori and Berget both deserves shouts. Berget got the job done and almost had a brace. Still don’t think we’ve seen the best from him yet and he will be a good sub. Ofori got better as the game went on and thought once he pushed up when Ring subbed in he looked much more comfortable.

Maxi is MOTM. Not much debate IMO.

Tinnerboom is so damn good going forward. He was abusing Henley.

SJ didn’t have to do much but made some awesome stops when he did.

Shradi can’t stop scoring.

Mata was insane in first half. Leveled off a little in the second half but we need him to stay healthy. So fucking good.

Well not the first to say it but this could have been the most complete game we have ever played. A dominant 4-0 win with all goals from 4 different players not named Villa.

Glad to see Mata out there. He has to be the #1 and will improve as the season goes.
Chanot is an animal. Amazing ball he defended off the line in the final minutes to preserve the shut out.

Also, I noticed Justin Haak in my subway car. I gave him a fist pump, congratulations on the pre-season and good luck for the future.

You guys, that was a truly exceptional game. I barely have the words.....

Fantastic intensity and teamwork from everyone, right from the start. First to second balls, really rapid and cohesive turnovers.

Anton Tinnerholm had the freedom of Yankee Stadium all night. Maxine Chanot was a rock and just kept on pinging the balls over the top to Anton and the RSL guys never figured it out. Maxi was great, lots of spirit and always in the right place. Good saves from our big Johnson. Berget did well for his finish, hell even Mata had a good game. I was impressed with Herrera, he seemed to have a lot more fight and was in better positions than previous games. Good shift too from Ofori, Medina was class and Isi is a goal-scoring machine! Shout out to Callens too, solid as well and went on one mad dribble in the second half.

Wasn't entirely sure ours was a penalty, but it made up for the no call on one of the more obvious penalties i've ever seen, when the RSL guy after about 5 mins, didnt want the corner to hit him in the face, so just put both his hands there....

Some game. Good atmosphere too.

As ever, the only blight on an otherwise great night was the MTA for doing their best to block anyone from getting to the Bronx.....
