was thinking we could do at the "gave proof through the night that our flag was still there" and when the person says our flag we can all scream NEW YORK!!! Idk is that disrespectful? Just an idea

at the portland thorns games, they pump their scarves during the anthem at certain points, ill look for a video on it my friend put one up on fb

Having been to far too many Baltimore Sporting events I can say that city does the "OH" very loud - at first I thought it was kind of disrespectful, then I sort of fell in love with it. I mean the anthem was written in baltimore harbor and Oh for orioles ... what not.

I think just singing out the anthem real loud is the best thing - if something comes about at some point it may make sense but I don't know that it will. Instead let's just sing it out and drown out the singer - who frankly i can't hear in the stadium anyway.

Here's what I mean - at an o's game you have one loud O and some cheering at the end -

at a Blackhawks or Rangers game the crowd either out cheers or out sings the person singing -

I'd love our stadium's reputation to be we get home field advantage by singing out the anthem so loud it makes other teams a tad nervous. That's just me ... love my country ... hate most things about the way it works, but I love my country.

Yeah, I think the "Oh" thing that they do at Orioles games is pretty cool. I definitely wouldnt change any words though.

We could of course immediately follow up the national anthem with a rowdy rendition of "America the Beautiful". Which to be honest, will most likely be attempted at most home games by my roommate.

Red Bulls fans place emphasis on "Red" during the anthem which is pretty cool. It works for them because it's part of the song though, so it's an enhancement rather than changing/adding anything.

Nothing in the song really lends itself to NYCFC. Best option might be some chant immediately after the anthem on a regular basis.

Last Yankees game I attended the family in front of me all turned around and looked at me like I was nuts when I started singing along with the anthem. Not sure if they were foreign, or if I am really that bad. Or that good. Really weirded me out.

Seriously though, endless threads about what songs to sing and lots of suggestions of ridiculously long ballads that no one knows. How bout we start trying long songs by singing one that everyone knows, or should. It could start a precedent by involving the WHOLE stadium. @Buckley talk to your peeps at TR, @johnny_f get the word out to HoO & Brown Bag. Build a strong foundation, boys! Let's do this.

yikes, don't mess with the national anthem.

look at the flag and just sing the song or stand silently, preferably at attention.

if you're a citizen, hand over your heart.

We've been singing it (at least I have)! And additionally gonna try and re-distribute that shortlist we had for the Sporting match

Baltimore goes "O" because they're the Orioles, the O's. I was at two playoff games at Yankee Stadium versus the Orioles and when their fans did it, it was so annoying, because they're the opposing team.

There are three things to do: stay quiet, sing it loud and proud, and/or giant american flag tifo. We could also turn our scarves into rally towels and start waving them at a certain lyric in the anthem.

Probably the best national anthem crowd, first game in Boston after the marathon bombing in 2013. Jump to 3:20
