Visiting Supporters At Ys

I have noticed that the last few home games the visiting supporters have not been sitting in the first five or six rows of their designated sections. Is this something that has been imposed by YS to prevent shenigans such as beer pouring, etc.? That would be a great move if that was the case.

I noticed a lot of the security guards radioing in from up there down to the managers down by the field where I sit. The biggest issue seemed to be with traveling supporters hanging banners etc from the railings and the security would constantly get into fights with them over it. Im guessing this is the issue. The only time I have seen beer being poured down was when the NJRB fans were up above

Makes sense. Seems like they are acting preemptively now by not allowing folks to sit up front.

The thing that annoys me the most is when YS security allows fans of the opposing team to sit in the supporter's section in the out field.....this causes other fans to act out and should not be allowed, especially during derby games.

Yankee Stadium security doesn't know how soccer works. They'll probably get better training over the winter.

I must mention last home match vs. DC United. My husband and I live in Ulster County. On the way home north, we stopped as usual at the first 87 rest stop. A man politely asked how I liked the game (me wearing The Jersey, mine with Josh's name) . Of course, I said great! He replied that he was with DC United. (Did not ask how.) I responded that DC was a respectful club like NYCFC and I would be happy to play with them again win or lose. His response- "Thank you for saying that."

Why do we need visiting fan section? Other sports do fine without it here.
We have a visiting fan section in football (soccer) because the game would be nothing more than 22 swarthy men running around the field without fans.

I actually think it's cool to have visiting supporters sections in the stands. It's also a Nice way to build comrodery with your fellow fans. And nothing is more thrilling than being able to watch your team win on the road with your fellow supporters.

FIFA rules say that all football matches of a certain level have to segregate fans. In fact their rules also say that the two sets of fans should be kept "as far away from each other as possible", which is why many stadia have strips of missing seats or big fabric covers preventing fans from sitting in hundreds of seats in European stadia. I guess in a sport famed for its bad blood between rival fans, they were practically compelled to introduce such a rule back a few decades ago, though it may be less necessary in many places now.
