And if I see anyone else credit Tab Ramos or Claudio Reyna as anything but sycophantic idiots, I'm going to verbally puke on this board.

They are both pretty damn worthless. Mouth breathing tokens to appease the US soccer masses who pay no attention beyond good spirit and hustle. They are the worst of what is out there.

Except Richie Williams. He's more worster.

I actually always thought of Ozzie as a destroyer who had good athleticism and was a bit nasty in the tackle. Has his game changed that much (or am I that wrong)?

He was able to do that at Valencia (I think that is who he played for) and Liverpool. However, as with every player as they get older Midas, the legs slow down and you are less effective when that happens. He for me has always been a great passer of the ball.

Are we talking about the same guy? Osvaldo Alonso is a Cuban defector who has been with Sounders since 09 I think.

That's funny. Well, you're definitely right about Xabi Alonso being slow and his picking a pass. The MLS Ozzie is a fleet footed destroyer who's been know to rake his cleats down a fair number of achilles.

What's the chances of us able to sign him Midas?

The trouble with trying to watch the MLS from here, is that most games are in the early hours of the morning. I will have to record more of them later and try to watch more teams.

Looked pretty damn good as a CF versus Cosmos when we had Mix right behind him (after Kreis tried to put Ballouchy there at first). Of course, we never saw that again...

Yeah I recall discussing this with you at the Cosmos match. Mix began that game on the left side (I'm assuming because the US Open Cup is beneath Grabavoy) and then moved his way toward the center where he & Poku combined well and greatly influenced the game. Mix then found himself on the right side for the rest of the season because Kreis. I have real hope that Vieira will play our guys where they belong. I'd love to see Poku as a CF with Mix behind him and Villa as a LF/LW. I suppose we have to find somewhere for Lampard to play as well.

Its sorta circle jerk, and maybe we have too many threads talking about the same thing, but it was revealed this week that Sounders were shopping Osvaldo Alonso, a great MLS CDM. But he is on a DP contract around $800,000. So unless Sounders eat some of that I don't see him coming.

As for Xabi Alonso, we already have 3 DPs, so we might as well just stop with the fantasy future player picks.

Mena is on his way back to New York, good news imo

I agree. He showed all the tools to be a really good CB. He was excellent in one on one defending. His biggest weakness which is definitely coachable was his positioning off the ball, and he seemed to also come into NYC out of shape. I think he can be a stud CB.

Still would have taken Tefu though.

Talented and coachable is fine with me, especially with Vieira coming. And arriving out of shape in the past is curable with a full offseason.

I'm ok with Mena coming back. But he needs to show he is a day 1 starter immediately. Otherwise he makes too much money. And he needs to be in shape. At age 25, there is no excuse for a footballer to be out of shape.

I think the biggest thing with Mena, still, is that he needs a consistent partner. And really, with the differences between his game and Facey's, they really should have been a great duo, if they were given time to gel. It'll be interesting to see if his pairing will be a Spanish speaker or not.

light-hearted (or heavy) question for fellow NY fans, assuming some of you are also Giants fans...which team can give your more heartache in the next 5 years, Giants of NYCFC? Another disappointing loss against Pats last night...so many chances to put them away and yet they did not close the deal.
