Galaxy Postmatch

I would argue that we are overpaying for performance with Saunders today. Around the world, Goalkeepers are the cheapest on-field talent. For $110,000 a year, I don't think we are necessarily getting great value.

My two cents is that there is a keeper out there for a similar wage cost that provides better value.

I think we all get that you don't like the guy and are not open to liking him - that's totally up to you but it is blinding you to what he brings to the team and what we have transformed into since he and Jack became available for selection.

I think that the map below shows that Frank had touches near Jack - I would rather point out that his presence near Jack's side of the field or Frank passing back to Hernandez while on Jack's side was able to keep the defense honest enough to spring Jack numerous times during the match. I recall Jack only being doubled maybe once or twice on the wing - as opposed to each touch on the wing the last few weeks.

I appreciate you putting the effort in to show some data to back up your idea. I couldn't find all the pass combination data to confirm the number of passes from Frank to harrison, but it was fewer than nine passes. Iraola had 11 passes to jack.
I remember mix constantly playing balls to wide open shelton at RW. Of course shelton wasted the opportunities, but I drool at the idea of a real cm delivering balls in space to harrison.

A (Colombian, big soccer fan) coworker went to the game and met Raul outside of Yankee Stadium. He showed me a picture. I didn't know who it was at first then he told it was Raul. I responded, "Yeah, he played for the Cosmos." He replies, "He also played for Real Madrid and the Spanish national team." "Yeah, them too."

American Soccer moment.

I think leilanikali420 's point was that even if not directly involved in passes, Lampard's proximity to Harrison forced a defender to pay heed thus not allowing said defender to drop and double-team Harrison - which is exactly what was happening the past few games with Hernandez not overlapping to draw a defender. Sometimes a passive involvement has an active effect on the play simply by occupying space as a hypothetical outlet.

I understood her point, I've just never seen the stand next to someone offensive tactic. Probably a low chance that is the tactic here.

I was discussing exactly that with Midas this weekend. As I said to him, there is no actual evidence at this point that Saunders will not be back next year, only wishful thinking by most that he will be replaced.
I 100% also think that Saunders will be back next year. Do they let someone compete with him is another question.

Tom, you are a man with a talent. Every time I see a post and I think to myself, "There's no way Tom could turn this one into a Frank hate post," you find a way. It's truly breathtaking.

Did you and Midas Mulligan Midas Mulligan (vis a vis Saunders) go to the same school for this?

If you were ever to read the comments section on any article on Yahoo, a truly painful experience , you'd see that no matter what the article was about someone will find a way to use it to launch an attack ( rant) on Obama. That's what this reminds me of only with frank instead of Potus.

By all means get back to discussing anti theft tags on jerseys, I'm done beating this drum

So Saunders rules since he is tied for most clean sheets and we have a good record?
No. He sucks because he constantly re-proves my points. I gave the Lampard shit a break because we're winning and he's scored a shit load of goals. See? New shit has come to light.

And I've only ever said I don't see why we never do Mix given a similar free role, instead of asking him to be Arturo Vidal before he sniffs the pitch. That is mind bottling.

Ugh.

And I can't find the original posts you quoted (not looking hard), but they are both incorrect. He makes horrible mistakes. Horrible, horrendous, not enough facepalm Jesuses on the web mistakes.

Frank scores goals. He's in the game to score goals. Mix hasn't scored goals when given the opportunity. That simple.

I don't think Mix would score at the same clip, even in the free role. But you have to agree that Mix was 1 - asked/expected to do significantly more & 2 - hasn't been given a chance since we've settled into our current midfield tactics/roles, don't you?

Not necessarily. There are 3 spots to be had. Iraola, Pirlo and Frank have all performed better. Lopez has performed better as the late game closer and Bravo has performed better as the bruiser/muscle. Mix sees himself as a #6 in a perfect world. Iraola and Pirlo have done their jobs better. It's that simple for me.

I will agree that he hasn't been given a chance since we've settled into our current roles. That being said, he also has earned that chance.

I don't think Mix believes he's a #6. He's either a #8 or a #10.... Both centrally located, seeing a lot of the ball, and involved in the attack.
