Crew Postmatch

Also, shout out again to NYCFC_Dan NYCFC_Dan for the tickets right behind the net, section 014b. They were amazing and it's insane being that close to the players.

My friend and I had a fun first half, especially when we were able to heckle Brad Stuver, the CC goalie. One of his defenders sent a terrible back pass that got past Stuver and ended up in a corner for us, which ended up in a goal kick after we missed the net. I screamed at him "Hey Brad, if you can't even stop a pass how are you going to stop a shot?!?" he actually turned around, made a face, and said "It was a shitty pass, what do you want me to do?" and shrugged too.

Never thought I'd actually get a response through the constant heckling consisting of "Pass it to that guy Brad, no not him," "No, your other left," (when he turned it over) "Nice pass, Brad."
Glad you had a good time man!
Think I'll go midfield when we have our SSS. Not that the tickets are bad since you have the screen when the play is on the other end but they're not on the wtong end of the field. We always finish attacking on the other side.

Yeah, that was the only not awesome part, being unable to tell just how far away the action is on the other side. Each Crew pass in our half (othr side from my view) made me worried thinking it was a lead pass through our defense, when it was really a 10 foot pass from Tchani to Higuain.

Even if I could take physically meeting Andrea which I never will !!! I'd say.....Andrea you know how I feel But How can you look at yourself today with the face of your father and son staring back and be proud of how you were last night?? You left them and your country and put everything on the line for performance like that? Really Baby I know you've fallen in love with NY and all it offers ! But choose between life in NY or playing !! Bring your Wine over and just live the life you deserve !! But if that smooth ass of yours is on the bench for the Bench for the Play Off all I can do is quote Michael Corleone " It's not Personal it's Business"

No doubt Lurch is talented. But I agree with some posters: Is he effective in organizing his backline? I know he's been in the states for a couple seasons, but there has to be some language barriers with our back line members considering their nationalities and Lurch being Norwegian. I could be just worrying too much (and I'm sure it'll get better with more games and training together), but it has to be a bit concerning especially if PV gives him th nod in the playoffs.

He's been in ManCity academy since 16. His English is just fine.
They'll usually have keywords which everyone has to understand.

It may be more that the Defense isn't used to taking orders from our GK - seriously - and instead they try to organize themselves, so when Lurch is yelling at them to shift/press/pass to him they aren't accustomed to trusting him and that he's reading the play correctly because they've been burned the entire season by Calamity Josh.

Good god yesterday was LIT.

The team was firing on all cylinders, Johansen looked terrific too.

I'll write a piece later but figured I'd share this with you guys now.

Vieira said Johansen essentially makes his job tougher and he will decide on the keeper for the next match based off: the opponent, how they look during training in the week and a talk with his goalkeeper coach.

Matarrita said Eirik had a great debut but said Josh also has his good moments. He said they set up well and managed to have good ball movement out of the back.

As for who should start next week he said that it was a tough decision that thankfully wasn't up to him to make.
So it has to be Johansen from here out, right? You can't run out the backup for one match and not have everyone on the same page re: how to play it in the media, UNLESS you plan to let him take over the spot. If you're keeping the old guy, you're only killing his confidence to say that there is a competition at this late stage. And we all know Saunders is as fragile as it gets.

Eta: Basically, what JayH JayH said much more succinctly - "coachspeak for Lurch is playing"

not sure if it was posted earlier but the field condition looked quite good post Yankees.

The field did look really nice, but I heard the quality wasn't quite there. I didn't see it, but some of my friends were talking about players trying to make cuts and the turf just coming up like a rug. A nice, pretty, rug though.

Yeah it's been brought up before, you don't just rest a starting keeper, especially in a game that matters. Saunders confidence is probably shot right now, but at the same time Vieira might be using this to light a fire under Josh to work harder. I'm definitely curious as to how things shake up in training this week.

Another follow up on Eirik - Vieira specifically said he wanted to play him in the last game to see how he performs under pressure. I think there's a lot in that statement. In big games Saunders has looked out of his comfort zone (lets be honest, all games). This last game had a lot riding on it, and the semi's obviously will be the same. I think he knows Saunders is garbage in big games. Part of me thinks PV isn't ruthless enough to bench Saundy after "getting us here," but then again look at how easily he discarded Mix. Do what you need to do, Patty.
