2017 Summer Signings

David Luiz is a bit of a freak and can get away with more than the average player. Doesn't hurt that his hair confuses the opponent like a puffer fish.

Watch Callens with the ball on his right. He pretty much runs around it to get it on his left foot. That's contributed a few times to his lazy/late passes. I'd hate for him to be the one in the middle organizing when Chanot is clearly the vocal and organizational leader.
I just went out of my way to describe him NOT having to organize or have responsibilities. That's why you keep your two stable, traditional CBs in place. He's your Murdoch.

I agree that Callens can play as a Sweeper/CB. Actually fits him quite well. Chanot and Fuchs complement him.

Mata IS going to be sold.

What if Pirlo retires, Mata is sold and Fuchs is a half season DP?

Please rephrase your last sentence in the form of a statement and not a question.

Hopefully we can leverage the financial precedent set with other over 30 outside backs like Cole and Iraola and get him under dp level. Granted at 31 he's younger than the other two but it's not like he's a big name.

Not linked to NYCFC, but Huntelaar would be a fun signing for MLS this summer, available on a free transfer from Schalke.

I've called for this before. I think he would destroy MLS. Look at what Cyle Larin has done the last few years in MLS - Huntelaar is 2x the player.

A lasting memory from six years ago: 20 years old Alex Ring bites Huntelaar's heels like a honey badger for 90+ minutes, shutting him out of the CL qualifier. I think that game sparked off Ring's international adventures.

But yes, Huntelaar would be a good signing. At 33, he might still have a good season or two to give.

Alex Ring is the most underrated player in MLS right now. I have no idea how he stays here on anything less than a DP contract. He should be making 2-3 Million a year in the BL or EPL.

What makes Mo Besic at Everton a better player than Ring?

maybe .....but he was in bundesliga and didnt stay there and went to bundesliga 2....you figure he would be been offered something at 26 yrd old.

also wasnt it him who got in a bit of verbal fight with fans in one of the bundesliga teams so maybe he has bad reputation over there.....as for PL .....maybe because he is from finland and that is why no ones takes him since they havent been to WC ......unless you want him at a lower level/ Relegation fighting team ....then maybe hed rather stay here.

Why? He is better than a number of players we watch week in and walk out overseas. Ring and Herrera are the reason I'm not catatonic about Maxi. They collectively make up for it

Also, I hope Poku doesn't go to Barcelona and OMG TMAC has an Irish passport he's going to be swept up by a team in Europe any second now and for the future of US soccer we need to get him a USMNT cap ASAP before Ireland locks him down. Sarcasm aside what's our top 5 of forum most absurd player overvaluations? We love our guys which is awesome and should never stop but man does it lead to some crazy evaluations. The Poku craziness is going to be hard to top.

Damn, I was praying that I took a day off of the Forums on Dec 10, 2014. Nope. At least some of you were right there with me.
In hindsight, its not like there was anything terribly exciting on offer in that draft. The players would not have been bad as backups. Not our fault Kreis decided to use them as lock down starters. The big misses IMO were marky Delgado in the Chivas draft and Roldan in the superdraft that year.

I love how almost nobody had anything to say about the one guy who is still on the team.

There is literally almost no mention of him on the first page, compared to all the "woo hoo we got some great MLS players in Grabavoy and Wingert!!!!!"

Wow, how things can change in a short period of time. Its also been shown that the expansion draft literally has no use anymore. Most of the people taken this year were ransom to get GAM or trade for another player. Doubt they ever have it again.
