In general. Thought the question was not specific to the LA match, but with how to get a big body on the field full time.
yeah i would go 352 with everyone avaliable. Going to a 442 flat could be an interesting option on days like next week if dont have everyone available and we would like to avoid playing t-mac and pirlo

We might be getting Rodney back at the perfect time to help take some pressure off our back line. And IF the Ugo rumors have any validity...

---------------Ugo
--------Villa
RW--------------------Jack
----Ring-----Yangel
BS -- AC ---- FB ----- EW/RJ
------------SJ

I think you can bring on Lewis and mess LAG up by letting Jack float a bit more centrally, and have the options of taking Ugo out or RW (preferably, after his time out).

I'd rather Wallace didn't start straight away. Maybe ease him in and sub him in the 85th.

Well, this isn't exactly the same team that has been struggling all year. They've added a new coach, who has had a couple games to get a new system in place, and a new DP. We are going to have to be ready for this one.

You heading down?
Of course, it's just a six hour drive!

JvD is a card waiting to happen. He has something like 8Y 3R for the year. I kinda want him to play so we can go at him.

Nah, he's just off a suspension. He will ready to maim.

Better strategy is to tempt him forward and out of position.

ETA: I note that he received two yellows in the Seattle game 2 weeks ago. So, he was suspended for their game against Portland this week. However, the first yellow, which counts toward yellow card accumulation, was his 8th of the season. So, is he suspended another game? Is he considered to have served that suspension already? Does he serve it once he gets another yellow?

He has 11 yellows on the season, with 3 games of 2 apiece.

The Disciplinary Summary doesn't have him listed as 1 yellow away from a suspension and doesn't have him listed to miss two games so we'll have to ask someone who actually knows the rules.

LA Galaxy isn't good enough nor high presses enough to make us play off our main game.

F: Lewis - Villa - Harrison
M: Herrera - Pirlo - Ring
D: Sweat - Callens - Brillant - White

We should be able to get 60% possession in this one.

NO please Pirlo if he plays we will lose. Pirlo is old and slow , he is done.

Unfortunately, PV tends to go with experience on the road, but I'm really pulling for a some speed on the outside against that back line. As long as TMac sees the bench, I'm happy.

Throwing spitballs here, but what if:

Shelton Villa Lewis

Hererra Ring Jack

Sweat Callens Brillant White

Johnson

We'd be razor thin with subs, but it'd get the best speed out there while limiting TMac and Pirlo to the bench. If Wallace is healthy enough to sub, that still leaves him and Okoli as offensive pieces to play.

Post your lineup then. There is no other palatable choice. And if Pirlo plays up the pitch in the cam role, he might not kill us as much

I generally agree, with the caveat that I don't think Pirlo is necessarily the problem. The problem is Pirlo and TMac playing at the same time.

The team is more or less built to handle having one slow player on the pitch, without loosing too much of its overall potential. What the team cannot take is having two slow players on the pitch, the work required for the rest of the team is too high.

Between the ghost of Pirlo and the reality of TMac, Pirlo is the no brainer choice.

We're not going to include Lopez in this discussion because I really don't see him as a full 90 player at his current skill level. Every time he goes the full 90 something goes terribly wrong.

I would give him strict orders to stay in the other team's half and let Ring and Yangel play dual quarterback. If PV can successfully deliver the message, and Pirlo would actually resist interfering with Ring and Yangel carrying play (and as long as TMac isn't on the field), I could live with this.

Interesting. Shelton being back does give us more depth up front and therefore more flexibility.
