2017 Summer Signings

I had to double check Dos Santos' salary. I really want to like the Maxi signing, but the fact that Dos Santos is only making a little bit more than him is another data point that makes Maxi look like a low value/efficiency move. (I realize LAG paid a transfer fee too, so not saying we should have signed him specifically, but someone of his caliber.)

How about Ki Sung-Yueng next year? His contract expires at Swansea next summer. May be able to get him on a free if there's no Chinese Super League interest driving up his salary demands.
Is that the same guy who was at Sunderland? If so, I don't like him too much.

Huh, seems a little weird. Kind of expensive for winger depth, hints at losing Harrison or moving him more regularly to CAM (or playing both in a flat 3-4-3).

Also, I don't understand how some type of option would get around the transfer restrictions. In your article, do you mean that the plan a free loan with something like a $500k transfer fee option at the end of the year, but because the window closed, that's no longer feasible?

Which means the only way we get him is if his current club releases him.

Yeah, I'm not sure what his agent meant by that either. I'm still waiting on clarification (which I don't think will come).

My best guess is that it would have been a free loan with a fee at the end like you suggested. But now that's no longer an option so for us to get him we'd either have to work out a handshake deal where they'd release him in order for us to sign him and they'd be compensated somehow or they just want to be rid of his salary and the headache he's been recently and release him anyways.

If they aren't playing him, this might be plausible.

Thanks for the legwork on this, but this one just seems pretty weird. He doesn't show up on the score sheet very often, with 6 goals and 7 assists over the past 5 seasons.
