Columbus - Postmatch

I know that results lately have been disappointing and we aren't going into the playoffs with the best form, but we are the second best team during the regular season. That's something to be happy about

(Yes, we did our best to piss it away at the end there, but whatever)

Still reeling from the hardcore Citi Field cocktails, but I enjoyed that game. Didn't seem like a penalty to me, so missing the kick after getting it from VAR is probably right.

Saw Maxime Chanot on the way in, he had a ticket and was in line like the rest of us plebs. I tried to tell him he could go in front of me, but he's a man of the people and headed to the back of the line.

Overall, happy enough to get a bye. Still think J-Lew did more in his ~4 minutes than 'Make a Wish' beneficiary Khiry Shelton did in his however many minutes on the pitch.

We had tickets for the GA, but there were no open seats, so we ended up just standing behind the seats, so that was kind of a bummer, but being home with some chicken about 30 minutes after the game means i'd be happy to see some more games in Queens.
So you asked if he wanted to skip you in line but not when he's going to be healthy???????? They should have kicked you to the back of the line.

So I broke down and took my son. We sat in 140. Really liked Citi Field. The entire lower bowl, less maybe the home plate seats, was entirely full. And loud. I thought that crowd was fantastic today. And I thought the stadium acoustics were better. Food was better, but the concessions were incredibly understaffed. The parking lot was a clusterfuck. They were not prepared.

Thank God for Villa. Callens was huge. Worst game for Sean Johnson this season. Thiught Brillant was solid. Sweat was not good. White was very strong defensively, and of course cost us on the offensive side of the ball. Ring was terrific. Pick up of the offseason for me and our 2nd most valuable player. Herrera showed some flashes but we didn't miss anything when he came off. Maxi has gotten worse as the season goes on. That worries me. He's not a DP level #10 in this league at the moment. He is brutal in the final third. Now, could he play deeper next to a traditional 6 like Ring? Maybe. I like him as a guy that pings the ball around the field. I liked him deeper when we went to a flat 4-4-2 later in the match.

Wallace was ok, not great. Liked his stint as a CF when Villa went wide left. Harrison was good. I would imagine he came out because they wanted to protect his minutes some.

Matarrita needs to start next weekend. Shelton wouldn't pull the trigger on a shot at the end of the match that Harrison puts on target. I did like him as a CF paired with Villa. That's his natural position. Lewis continues to be a game changer. Came on too late.

Steffen had himself a game

You were in the same section as me. I was in row 1. I was so pissed off at a bunch of dickheads booing Brillant every time he touched the ball in the first half. Great view from that section though.

Well we backed into that.. I don't even know what to say? We have too much talent ( comparatively to MLS) to be as damn mediocre as we've been for at least the last month. With the whole mid field and Villa out there we need to be finishing more chances and someone other than Daveed (and occasionally) Jack has to step up and pitch in with a goal.

So who do we want ? Do we care ? I'd prefer Columbus again or Chicago to Atlanta. We can't get RBJ now.

I was in 109, the angle was really offputting, but dispited that I like citifield better then yankee stadium and not just cause it so so so much easier for me to get to the game, but cause I like the open feeling walking in the corridors and the food options. I never buy food but I did this time. The airplanes kept catching my attention but probably cause I was looking at the scoreboard too much; the angle really sucked, but I'm sure I could find a better view with some seat experimentiation, or just buy the worst seats in the house and hang in the outfield section. There was this kid behind me, sharp as a tack, knew all the players and made all the calls quick. He was asking for Lewis and finally got his wish, and at after the game Lewis tossed a ball to our section and he got it. It was pretty cool.

I was in 109 too, and even 12 rows up the view was too flat.

I was in the very last row (19) on the aisle. My son was the little blonde one who spent all game eating French fries or chicken nuggets or a King Cone while spilling water on himself.

I liked the view. Didn't love it, but certainly was cool to see the game from a different angle.

At Yankee Stadium I'm in 126. Midfield, but one of the last rows. I'm far from the pitch but you can see everything develop.

Was down front in the same section -- I was disappointed with the seats. It was cool seeing one game from a different angle, but being blocked from the view of the corner, the weird angle facing the field, and planes constantly taking off overhead all just made it a weird game.

It was really hard with kids though. The restrooms, concessions, and overall congestion were pretty tough to deal with when having two little ones at the game. One of the things I love about YS is how easy it is with a family.

Overall though -- congrats fans, we brought it that game and gave it a great atmosphere.

Mostly gushing about the stadium experience, but as far as the game goes, there were promising signs. Jack was more decisive. Villa is back and ready to carry the team on his shoulders. We seemed to click a little better.

On the flip side, Brillant had his weakest game for us since he started holding down a starting spot. For the first goal he gets drawn in under the flight of the ball inexplicably. And even though Johnson could have been more imposing for the second, Brillant rather meekly allowed himself to be used as a step ladder for our old friend Roidy Josh.

Wallace is such a defensive asset, but it kills me that that is the reason why he is holding down an offensive spot. I'm not really sure why it's so hard for somebody like Lewis to learn how to press as effectively, and I can't help but think he'd be more dangerous in open play. Wallace is a winger who doesn't want to be in the open field. It's utterly bizarre to me.

Nothing else needs to be said about Khiry.

All in all, I'm not ready to write us off yet. We had 23 shots. I think there's still a chance that we catch fire.
