Colorado - Postmatch

I thought Ring was one of our best players tonight. He was basically playing center back which afforded callens the opportunity to play as high as he was
Basically? He was absolutely lined up as the middle center back in a back 3. I don’t know how that isn’t playing cb.

But yeah, Callens is the man. 2nd best CB in the league after Ciman.

You seem to want to get hung up on one word rather than the point of my comment but there were absolutely position shifts going on throughout the game.

I mean, that one word minimizes the fact that it was a massive tactical and formational change, so yeah.

Shout out to the usher who kicked me and my friends out from under the awning to sit in the rain for the entire match while the 15-20 seats that could have kept us dry remained open.

Did this happen to anyone else? I get they want us to sit I our assigned seats, but no one was coming and we told her if someone did come we’d move immediately. She didn’t care. Can’t wait to see her for every remaining match this season and ask her where I sit.

My daughter and I were asked to leave the bar tops across from Mighty Quinn about 20 minutes before the match started. We were told they were only for people that purchase those seats. Are they even for sale for NYCFC matches??

Ring was playing the role that Toronto was forced to play Bradley in after their CB injuries -- but was arguably the best player on the field doing it. He broke up so many plays at midfield when playing as a stopper. It felt like nothing could get past him.

One other thing I noticed once or twice about Ring, has he learned the Pirlo shimmy? I remember him giving a fake and going the other way, at one point late in the second half he did it to two Colorado players pressing him. Made me chuckle.

Love to see Callens going all Beast Mode and making those forward runs too.

I have a sort of opposite story. First half, my daughter and I are the only people sitting outside in Delta, except for a few folks in the last row of a few sections, because the outside part of Delta has no cover and it's a downpour. I asked her at least 4 times in the first half if she wanted to go inside and my OG 13-year old says no, she's good. Would have been a good photo of the two of us in the first row, in ponchos and pouring rain, the only people in about 8 sections worth of Delta.

We spend halftime inside, and the rain mostly stops. But still, when the second half starts there is still almost nobody else outside. Just two new guys about 20 years old. And they are in our seats. Seriously, there's probably 500 empty seats in Delta and they try to slide into the only ones that are being used. The look they gave me when I told them those were our seats was priceless.

my daughter and I
I brought my four-year-old daughter today, as it's the only match all season which starts early enough for her to make her usual bedtime, and we started out sitting a few rows back from my actual seats in order to keep dry.

She was loving all the pregame stuff until the kind of awkward and prolonged Villa 400 celebration. Then, she kind of checked out right as the game kicked off. We were out of the seats and walking around by minute nine, and then right before the first goal she said she wanted to go home. So, not a super successful outing, but at least we rampaged over a shit team.

I'm still sorry to see Tim Howard playing for that garbage side.

2. During the final part of warmups they players line up and go their runs on the near sideline. They usually do four runs and then wait for the final sprint to midfield. Mata was leading the line. Chelsea, the in stadium host, was behind to the players. They were looking at her, a lot. During the last run where then then players stay before the midfield run, Mata initially began to run back to the starting position at the corner flag. I think it was Callens that had to tell him to come back. Distracted.

So distracted that he scored and played well

And on a side note, as great as the team played, Herrera still sucks. It's time for him to go back to Guatemala. He's a pupusahead
