So Vieira hasn’t “spoken” to Nice but yet Nice knows that PV’s key decision point whether to take the job or not is the player pool?
Someone’s lying big time.
Vieira speaks to his agent or some other proxy, they speak to Nice. Then he gets to grin and tell our media he hasn’t spoken to Nice.
If he wasn’t negotiating with them he would say he was flattered or something and not interested in the job. He’s either having his agent negotiate with them in good faith to take the job, or in bad faith to get his contract extended here.

I think it's deceitful but not out right lying. It's bad faith truth telling because he knows what the spirit of the question is. But also bad questioning - just ask him "are you or anybody who represents your interests <blah blah blah> with Nice or any other club?". At least force him up to a new level of falsehood, because I'm finding this saga tiresome.

Words are powerful, as you’ve spelled out in the past, and for me it’s important to interpret the actual words and not necessarily the potential interpretation they may allude to if viewed from a different vantage point. He said he didn’t speak with them, but if he emailed, I would not have an issue with that (from a lying/not lying point of view) because he’s conveying what actually happened.
I’m not sure what you’re getting at with the federal investigators, but I would think more ambiguity would be worse as it’s muddying the answer whereas less ambiguity is truthfully describing the situation (see above). It’s up to the investigators to frame their question to account for particular answers/framing of the answers.
With all that said, I 100% believe Vieira is in negotiations with Nice via an intermediary (his agent) which is normal in sports. I’m also not surprised he’s veiled in his answers, because that is also the norm in sports. What I’m frustrated about is his answer that the rumors are not having an effect on the players, which he has no possible knowledge of since considering his demagogue approach to discipline would keep every player from giving him an honest assessment - they’d hedge their answers just like he is so as not to anger him. From watching recent matches, I have an incredibly difficult time believing the players haven’t been affected.

Vieira has always said publicly that he intends in fulfilling out his contract and would not want to leave mid-season, but if he does get the offer, I wish him luck and he has to take it. I feel there is good chance he gets the offer.

Well, it's Monday and there isn't an update or new article in the Patrick Vieira to Nice saga. That's a good sign.
Mercato suggests that Vieira will sign for OGC Nice after the Atlanta game. Remains to be seen of course.
if its true then Sunday morning they better announce the next coach ( assuming its not one of the assistants as interim) and bring him over ASAP...since i think they will need every minute possible polishing up whatever style of play they want.
