NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

wasnt his contract done anyway after this year? i thought the extension was just till end of 2018. It make sense that its over, but really want that title for him.

end of an era for our first player signed. dont know if people will complain if the replacement is not a known name

Well there can be differing perspectives on what a known name is. For the fair weather fans or non-fans, a known name is a star that can sell tix/merch and fill some seats, despite their current playing level. For me when we talk about a known name, I equate it to someone that is a proven talent, someone without question marks. We don't need stars, we need talent. I'd be disappointed if Villa wasn't replaced with a real proven talent. Maxi has done well, Medina may or may not be a top level player. I want at least one kick ass DP.

Michael Keaton will always be Batman to me.

Edit: to be fair, I was posting them as a body of work vs the other. Whether you prefer Keaton of Bale, it’s also Nicholson’s Joker versus Ledger, the art direction, cinematography, and plot/script - and the remake’s variables are light years stronger. The only even casting is Alfred, which is a total push for me, either way.

You have to judge them in context. Cinematographic techniques and technologies have evolved dramatically over the last 30 years. The Keaton Batman film was ahead of its time based on all the categories you used to judge them. It’s like saying the original Star Wars trilogy paled in comparison the episodes 1-3 because of the special effects/art direction. Or MLS 1.0 team to an MLS 3.0.

Episodes 1-3 were trash. Not a good example buddy.

We need a damn left back.

We also need a center forward and a midfielder, not of the attacking variety.

But mostly, we need to not have to play Sweat except rotationally.

Agreed. But their art direction and special effects were so much better than 4-6.
Not really. They were special effects for the sake of special effects. They didn’t move the story forward at all, just gratuitous eye candy. A lot like PV’s possession for the sake of possession.

We need a new Midas Mulligan.
I can not see any argument that Sweat is of the quality we need to compete. He is targeted by every team. He’s just not a good player.

He would be fine for Colorado or San Jose. He’s not acceptable for a team with trophy aspirations.

Well, mine actually helps our point total.
Funny! Are you talking about Medina or Mata as yours?

We’re coming off of multiple shutouts in a row, and Johnson leads the league with 9 shutouts, so our Left Back sure isn’t the problem.

He is not of the quality that we all want, but for his salary he is amazing. And if he can beat out the more expensive Mata, whom the FO sunk a lot of money, then that’s not Sweat’s problem but rather an indication that Mata sucks. You have to judge based on what they’re expected to do and he is over performing.

All I know is we need better, and I don’t think he is better than Matarrita.
