Just call them Bronx Blues. Nice and simple.
Change location name depending where stadium is built in borough. (Let's hope it's not Statern Blues!)
Nick names are ment to be catchy, easy to remember.

Bronx Bombers, Bronx Blues. Easy, catchy.

Or Bronx Ballers if guys don't want the color reference.

OR

Nick name coming from the badge; like quite a few teams do, gunners, Red Devils etc.

The badge has a Monogram on it.
Just call them The Grams, or Grams keep it simple.

Also, because gram on its own has another meaning you could shorten it again to just g.

Add numbers with meaning to it eg 11 gees, 5 gees (5 boroughs) etc.

Or the G men, The Gees, The Gee boys.

This has been kicked around on the 12th man name thread but I think it would work much better as a nickname for the team. How about The Bluebirds?

1. Newcastle United are known as the Magpies so it's not unheard of having a nickname based off of a local bird.

2. The Bluebird is the state bird of New York

3. It's colors are a perfect fit for the team

If we are going with a "local bird" the only bird that comes to mind is a pigeon. I've lived in nyc my entire life and have never once seen a bluebird.

I mean I actually think pigeons are cool and all ... I see them all over my neighborhood ... but this song says it all.

Yeah, but bluebirds are nice. If we nickname the team pigeons, we might as well go with flying sewer rats.

To be fair, multiple people have said this is the kind of thing that needs time to grow. I didn't vote for bluebirds originally, but I'm feeling more sympathetic to it now. If that name takes off I'd definitely support it.
I agree, also i think there are a decent amount of people like us because I also didn't vote for bluebirds either. But that was because I didn't know the background of why the name fits so well

It fits well yes but... no one will have any idea the reference. You shouldn't have to explain to people the meaning behind a nickname.

We mine as well be the Garnets - NY State gemstone
or
the Sea Scorpions - NY State fossil
or
the snapping turtle - NY State reptile

^no1 has any clue any of these exist and I could just keep going with obscure references. Granted bluebirds fits best because of the color scheme but you say bluebirds I just think Toronto.

I kind of understand both the pros & cons when it comes to "Pigeons". As somewhat of a side note, why not call the left field SG sections "The Coop"? Or would that be too close to "The Kop" and lose points on the OrganicAuthenticGrassroots scale?

Sea Scorpions sounds pretty badass, we should get some pricing on tee shirts
