If we are going with a "local bird" the only bird that comes to mind is a pigeon. I've lived in nyc my entire life and have never once seen a bluebird.

I agree, also i think there are a decent amount of people like us because I also didn't vote for bluebirds either. But that was because I didn't know the background of why the name fits so wellTo be fair, multiple people have said this is the kind of thing that needs time to grow. I didn't vote for bluebirds originally, but I'm feeling more sympathetic to it now. If that name takes off I'd definitely support it.
Yeah, but bluebirds are nice. If we nickname the team pigeons, we might as well go with flying sewer rats.
I mean I actually think pigeons are cool and all ... I see them all over my neighborhood ... but this song says it all.

Sea Scorpions sounds pretty badass, we should get some pricing on tee shirtsIt fits well yes but... no one will have any idea the reference. You shouldn't have to explain to people the meaning behind a nickname.
We mine as well be the Garnets - NY State gemstone
or
the Sea Scorpions - NY State fossil
or
the snapping turtle - NY State reptile
^no1 has any clue any of these exist and I could just keep going with obscure references. Granted bluebirds fits best because of the color scheme but you say bluebirds I just think Toronto.

Melting PotI kind of understand both the pros & cons when it comes to "Pigeons". As somewhat of a side note, why not call the left field SG sections "The Coop"? Or would that be too close to "The Kop" and lose points on the OrganicAuthenticGrassroots scale?
